CY62136EV30 MoBL® 2-Mbit (128 K × 16) Static RAM 2-Mbit (128 K × 16) Static RAM Features Functional Description ■ Very high speed: 45 ns ■ Wide voltage range: 2.20 V to 3.60 V ■ Pin compatible with CY62136CV30 ■ Ultra low standby power ❐ Typical standby current: 1 A ❐ Maximum standby current: 7 A ■ Ultra low active power ❐ Typical active current: 2 mA at f = 1 MHz ■ Easy memory expansion with CE and OE features The CY62136EV30 is a high performance CMOS static RAM organized as 128K words by 16 bits. This device features advanced circuit design to provide ultra low active current. This is ideal for providing More Battery Life™ (MoBL®) in portable applications such as cellular telephones. The device also has an automatic power down feature that significantly reduces power consumption when addresses are not toggling. The device can also be put into standby mode reducing power consumption by more than 99% when deselected (CE HIGH). The input/output pins (I/O0 through I/O15) are placed in a high impedance state when: deselected (CE HIGH), outputs are disabled (OE HIGH), both Byte High Enable and Byte Low Enable are disabled (BHE, BLE HIGH), or during a write operation (CE LOW and WE LOW). ■ Automatic power down when deselected ■ Complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) for optimum speed/power ■ Offered in a Pb-free 48-ball very fine ball grid array (VFBGA) and 44-pin thin small outline package (TSOP II) packages Writing to the device is accomplished by taking Chip Enable (CE) and Write Enable (WE) inputs LOW. If Byte Low Enable (BLE) is LOW, then data from I/O pins (I/O0 through I/O7), is written into the location specified on the address pins (A0 through A16). If Byte High Enable (BHE) is LOW, then data from I/O pins (I/O8 through I/O15) is written into the location specified on the address pins (A0 through A16). Reading from the device is accomplished by taking Chip Enable (CE) and Output Enable (OE) LOW while forcing the Write Enable (WE) HIGH. If Byte Low Enable (BLE) is LOW, then data from the memory location specified by the address pins appear on I/O0 to I/O7. If Byte High Enable (BHE) is LOW, then data from memory appear on I/O8 to I/O15. See the Truth Table on page 11 for a complete description of read and write modes. In an earlier revision of this device, under a specific application condition, READ and WRITE operations were limited to switching of the byte enable and/or chip enable signals as described in the Application Notes AN13842 and AN66311. However, the issue has been fixed and in production now, and hence, these Application Notes are no longer applicable. They are available for download on our website as they contain information on the date code of the parts, beyond which the fix has been in production. 17. At any given temperature and voltage condition, tHZCE is less than tLZCE, tHZBE is less than tLZBE, tHZOE is less than tLZOE, and tHZWE is less than tLZWE for any given device. 18. tHZOE, tHZCE, tHZBE, and tHZWE transitions are measured when the outputs enter a high impedence state. 19. The internal write time of the memory is defined by the overlap of WE, CE = VIL, BHE and BLE = VIL. All signals must be ACTIVE to initiate a write and any of these signals can terminate a write by going INACTIVE. The data input setup and hold timing should be referenced to the edge of the signal that terminates the write. 20. The minimum write pulse for Write Cycle No. 3 (WE Controlled and OE LOW) should be sum of tHZWE and tSD. Document Number: 38-05569 Rev. *I Page 7 of 18 CY62136EV30 MoBL® Switching Waveforms Figure 5.
