HV833DB1 HV833DB1 EL Lamp Driver Introduction Specifications The Supertex HV833DB1 demo board contains all necessary circuitry to demonstrate the features of the HV833 EL lamp driver. Input Voltage 1.8V to 6.5V Supply Current Simply connect it to a power supply and a lamp as shown below. For additional assistance in designing EL driver circuits, please refer to application notes AN-H33 (effect of external components on performance of Supertex EL drivers) and AN-H45 (EL lamp driver circuits to reduce lamp audible noise). 45mA 2 5.5in and 10in2 Lamp Size Range Lamp Frequency 250Hz Converter frequency 70KHz Board Layout and Connections VB VDD ON Rsw EN HV833 REL 1.8 – 6.5V DIODE VA OFF CDD VIN GND EL Lamp CS LX CIN EN Enable Input GND Circuit Ground Enables/Disables the lamp driver. A logic high (VDD) enables the driver and a logic low (GND) disables the driver. This in put may be connected to a mechanical switch, or to a logic circuit output that has a source impedance of less than 20KΩ. Connect to VDD and VIN negative terminals. Supply bypass capacitor for both VDD and VIN are provided on the demo board. External supply bypass capacitors are not necessary. VA and VB Lamp Connections VDD IC Supply Connects to an EL lamp. Polarity is irrelevant. Supplies the HV833 EL driver IC. The supplied circuit is optimized for 1.8 to 6.5 volt operations. VIN Inductor Supply Supplies the high voltage power converter. 05/02/02 Supertex Inc. does not recommend the use of its products in life support applications and will not knowingly sell its products for use in such applications unless it receives an adequate "products liability indemnification insurance agreement."
