Soil Moisture Meter
Model MO750
Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of this Extech Soil Moisture Meter. This meter has
been designed to provide accurate measurements even in the harshest of environments.
Features such as the large display, stainless steel probe and waterproof housing all
contribute to the ease of use and the reliability you would expect from an Extech meter.
This meter is shipped fully tested and calibrated and, with proper use, will provide years
of reliable service.

Measurement range : 0% to 50% moisture content of soil sample with 0.1%
resolution.

Operation
Preparation for use
1. Align the probe connector keys with the meter connector, insert the probe onto the
meter and secure the probe with the knurled locking ring.
2. Unscrew the battery cap, insert four AAA batteries (observe polarity) and re-secure the
cap.
3. Remove the plastic probe tip cover.
Soil Measurement
1. Press the ‘POWER” button to turn the meter ON.
2. Insert the probe into the soil
3. Read the % moisture in the display.
Data Hold
1. Press the ‘HOLD” button to lock the measured value in the display. “HOLD” will appear
in the display.
2. Press the “HOLD” button to return to normal operation.
Record (Max and MIN)
1. Press the ‘REC” button to begin recording the maximum and minimum measured
values. “REC” will appear in the display.
2. Press the ‘REC” button again, MAX will appear in the display and the maximum value
recorded will appear.
3. Press the ‘REC” button again, MIN will appear in the display and the minimum value
recorded will appear.
4. Press the “REC” button for 2 seconds to exit the record function.
Note: With in “REC – MAX” or “REC – MIN” in the display, pressing the HOLD button will
clear the memory and record function will then continue, but with a continuous update.
Measurement Considerations
1. The probe head should normally be inserted at least 4” (10cm) into the soil..
2. If the soil’s moisture content is very high, it may take several minutes to obtain a stable
reading.
Low Battery
The Low Battery icon
will appear when the batteries need replacing. Replace the
batteries as described in ‘Preparation for Use”.

Warranty
EXTECH INSTRUMENTS CORPORATION (A FLIR COMPANY) warrants this instrument to
be free of defects in parts and workmanship for one year from date of shipment (a six
month limited warranty applies to sensors and cables). If it should become necessary to
return the instrument for service during or beyond the warranty period, contact the
Customer Service Department at (781) 890-7440 ext. 210 for authorization or visit our
website www.extech.com for contact information. A Return Authorization (RA) number
must be issued before any product is returned to Extech. The sender is responsible for
shipping charges, freight, insurance and proper packaging to prevent damage in transit.
This warranty does not apply to defects resulting from action of the user such as misuse,
improper wiring, operation outside of specification, improper maintenance or repair, or
unauthorized modification. Extech specifically disclaims any implied warranties or
merchantability or fitness for a specific purpose and will not be liable for any direct, indirect,
incidental or consequential damages. Extech's total liability is limited to repair or
replacement of the product. The warranty set forth above is inclusive and no other
warranty, whether written or oral, is expressed or implied.
Calibration and Repair Services
Extech offers repair and calibration services for the products we sell. Extech also
provides NIST certification for most products. Call the Customer Care Department for
information on calibration services available for this product. Extech recommends that
annual calibrations be performed to verify meter performance and accuracy.
