Alcatel 1907 OFA Compact single-channel pre-amplifier Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier Description The Alcatel 1907 OFA (Optical Fiber Amplifier) is designed to offer excellent single-channel pre-amplifier performance characteristics in a very small package (70 x 90 x 12 mm) with reduced electrical consumption. Compact OFAs with integrated pumps can now be used where, previously only "passive gain modules" were used. A single 980 nm pump is used. Electrical consumption is minimized by using highly efficient pumps; power consumption is typically < 3 W. These units offer significant space savings on system PCBs. The cost advantages of these compact, “pump-integrated” OFAs include: lower landed cost, reduced board assembly time, and reduced cost of use.
