D/D Convert Circuit 1. SMPS (Switching Mode Power Supply) Circuit When you turn on the power switch, the operating procedure is as follows: 1) The AC line voltage is rectified by the bridge diode (D901). 2) The control IC (IC901) starts switching and generates switching pulses in the primary turn of the SMPS transformer (T901). 3) The switching pulses of the primary turns are induced the secondary turns of the transformer by the turn ratio. This pulses are rectified by each diode. (D909, D910, D911, D914, D915, and D917.) 4) Each rectified DC voltage (185V, 75V, 9V, 15V, and 6.3V) is supplied to the main circuit. 2. Over Voltage Protection Circuit When the input voltage of IC901 Vin (pin4) is more than 22V, all the secondary voltages of the SMPS transformer (T901) down to low value. To obtain constant high voltage, this circuit supplies controlled DC voltage for FBT and horizontal deflection circuit according to the horizontal sync frequency. 7. Horizontal and Vertical Sync Processor Circuit The horizontal and vertical sync processor IC (IC701) has a sync detector, a saw-tooth generator, and drive function. So output horizontal and vertical drive signal, control screen distortions. 8. Horizontal S-correction Circuit This circuit corrects the horizontal linearity for each horizontal sync frequency. 9. Horizontal Drive and Output Circuit This circuit is a horizontal deflection amplifier for raster scan. 10. ABL Circuit 3. Display Power Management Circuit 1) Stand-by and Suspend mode. When no input of horizontal or vertical sync, Q909, Q910, Q911, Q912, Q913, and Q914 are turned off. Then the input power consumption is below 15 watts. 2) OFF mode. When no input of horizontal and vertical sync, Q909, Q910, and Q911 are turned off. Then the input power consumption is below 8 watts. This circuit limits the beam-current for the reliability of CRT. 11. Vertical Output Circuit This circuit takes the vertical ramp wave from the TDA4858 (IC701) and performs the vertical deflection by supplying the saw-tooth wave current to the vertical deflection yoke. 12. Blanking and Brightness Control Circuit 4. X-ray Protection Circuit When the high voltage reaches to 30kV in an abnormal case, the high voltage detector circuit, IC702, R787, R788, R789, R790, R791, ZD704 and IC701 starts operation to shut down high voltage circuit. 5. Microprocessor Control Circuit Blanking circuit eliminates the retrace line by supplying a negative pulse wave to the G1 of the CRT, and brightness control circuit is used for control of the screen brightness by changing the DC level of G1. 13. Video Processor Circuit The operating procedure is as follows: 1) Horizontal and vertical sync signals are supplied to the microprocessor (IC401). 2) Microprocessor (IC401) discriminates the operating mode from the sync polarity and resolution. 3) After microprocessor reads these adjusted mode data stored at EEPROM, it controls operating mode data through Pulse Width Modulation ports. 4) Users can be control screen condition by the Enter button and the OSD Select/Adjustment ( ) knob. Video processor circuit consists of the video drive output block. The video drive IC (IC302) receives the video signal from PC. The gain of each channel is controlled by the voltage of contrast pin. Cut-off circuit compensate different voltage of each channel between the cathode and the G1 of CDT. 14. All adjustment are thoroughly checked and corrected when the monitor leaves the factory, but sometimes several minor adjustment may be required. AUTOMATIC AND MANUAL DEGAUSSING The degaussing coil is mounted around the CRT so that automatic degaussing when turn on the monitor. But the monitor is moved or faced in a different direction, become poor color purity cause of CRT magnetized, then press (DEGAUSSING) on the OSD menu. 5. Adjustment for White Balance and Luminance. ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE & METHOD Install the cable for adjustment such as Figure 1 and run the alignment program on the DOS for IBM compatible PC. 1. Adjustment for B+ Voltage Display cross hatch pattern at Mode 6. Adjust D909 cathode voltage to 185V 0.2V with VR901. 2. Adjustment for High-Voltage Display cross hatch pattern at Mode 6. Adjust FBT Anode voltage to 25kV 0.1kV with VR702. 3. Adjustment for Horizontal Raster Center Display cross hatch pattern at Mode 6. Adjust the raster should be center of the screen with SW701. - 15 - Set the White Balance Meter. Press the (DEGAUSSING) on the OSD menu for demagnetization of the CRT. Display color 0,0 pattern at Mode 6. COLOR ADJ. LUMINANCE command of the alignment program. Set Brightness to max position. Set Contrast to max position. COLOR ADJ. COLOR NO. 1 SUB CONTRAST command of the alignment program. Set Sub-Contrast to center position. Set VR302 G-Bias) to center, VR301 (R-Bias) and VR303 (B-Bias) to min position. Adjust Screen control on the FBT to 0.3 0.05FL of the raster luminance. Adjust VR301 (R-Bias) and VR303 (B-Bias) to white balance x=0.281 0.015 and y=0.311 0.015. Display color 15,0 box pattern (70 70mm) at Mode 6. Set B-DRIVE to 140 (decimal) at DRIVE of the alignment program. Adjust R-DRIVE 1 and G-DRIVE 1 to white balance x=0.281 0.003 and y=0.311 0.003 with arrow keys. Adjust SUB-CONTRAST 1 to 55 1FL of the color 15,0 box pattern (70x70mm) luminance at mode 6. Save in COLOR 1. Adjust R-DRIVE 2 and G-DRIVE 2 to white balance x=0.297 0.003 and y=0.320 0.003 with arrow keys. Adjust SUB-CONTRAST 2 to 55 1FL of the color 15,0 box pattern (70x70mm) luminance at mode 6. Save in COLOR 2. Display color 15,0 full white patten at Mode 6. COLOR ADJ. LUMINANCE ABL command. Adjust ABL to 32 1FL of the luminance. Exit from the program. 6.Adjustment for Focus. Set the Brightness and Contrast to max position. Display H character in full screen at Mode 6. TOTAL CHASSIS ASSEMBLY REMOVAL Disconnect P902 (Degaussing pin), P701 (DY pin), and P501 (Tilt pin). Remove two screws from the Bottom Bracket to remove the Ground Wire of the CRT. 1. TILT/SWIVEL REMOVAL Set the monitor face down. Pressing the latch , carefully remove the Tilt/Swivel by pulling it upward. 4. CRT BOARD ASSEMBLY REMOVAL Remove five connectors . Remove CRT ground connector Carefully separate the CRT Board Assembly from the CRT neck. Discharge the remaining static electricity by shorting between the Anode Cap and the CRT ground. Disconnect the Anode Cap from the CRT. 2. BACK COVER REMOVAL Remove four screws from the Back Cover. Slide the Back Cover away from the Front Cabinet of the monitor. Anode Cap - 11 - 6.
