APS3606 Active Splitter for Analog/Digital CATV Set-Top Boxes advanced product information - Rev 0.4 FEATURES • Single Input, Triple Output Design • High Linearity, Low Distortion Outputs Support Video Tuner Applications • Wideband Operation: To Above 1 GHz AP • 4.5 dB Typical Noise Figure at 3.5 dB Gain S3 • Extended Dynamic Range Gain Control, Independent for each RF path 60 6 • Single +5 V Supply • Balanced 75 Ohm Inputs/Outputs • RoHS Compliant/Lead Free APPLICATIONS • CATV Set-Top Boxes with Multiple Tuners, and Analog or Analog/Digital input signals. S29 Package 28 Pin QFN 5 mm x 5 mm x 1 mm PRODUCT DESCRIPTION This active splitter from ANADIGICS accepts a balanced RF input in the 50 MHz to 1.1 GHz frequency range and provides three balanced RF outputs with minimal degradation in signal quality. The singlepackage surface mount device amplifies the input signals using highly linear, low noise amplification stages, and couples the amplified signal to three separate output paths that can drive video tuner inputs. across a wide gain range, ensuring low distortion effects on each output signal. Requiring only a single +5 Volt supply, the active splitter design is implemented using the ANADIGICS GaAs MESFET process. The RoHS-compliant surface mount packaging makes the device ideal for use in today’s multiple-tuner set-top boxes for Cable TV. Each of the RF paths includes independent Gain Control. The overall linearity of each path is maintained AGC1 AGC2 AGC3 RF1OUT+ RF1OUTRFIN+ RFIN- RF2OUT+ RF2OUTRF3OUT+ RF3OUT- Figure 1: Functional Block Diagram 10/2009 RF1OUT- N/C BIAS1B 27 RF1OUT+ N/C 28 N/C BIAS1A APS3606 26 25 24 23 22 VCC 1 21 BIAS2B RFIN+ 2 20 N/C N/C 3 19 RF2OUT- RFIN- 4 18 N/C N/C 5 17 RF2OUT+ GND (Exposed Heat Slug) BIAS2A 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 BIAS3B 15 N/C 7 RF3OUT- AGC2 N/C N/C RF3OUT+ 16 BIAS3A 6 AGC3 AGC1 Figure 2: Pinout (X-ray Top View) Table 1: Pin Description 2 Pin nAme deScriPtion Pin nAme deScriPtion 1 VCC SupplyVoltage 28 BIAS1A RF1Bias 2 RFIN+ RFInput(+) 27 N/C NoConnection 3 N/C NoConnection 26 RF1OUT+ RF1Output(+) 4 RFIN- RFInput(-) 25 N/C NoConnection 5 N/C NoConnection 24 RF1OUT- RF1Output(-) 6 AGC1 RF1GainControlInput 23 N/C NoConnection 7 AGC2 RF2GainControlInput 22 BIAS1B RF1Bias 8 AGC3 RF3GainControlInput 21 BIAS2B RF2Bias 9 BIAS3A RF3Bias 20 N/C NoConnection 10 N/C NoConnection 19 RF2OUT- RF2Output(-) 11 RF3OUT+ RF3Output(+) 18 N/C NoConnection 12 RF3OUT- RF3Output(-) 17 RF2OUT+ RF2Output(+) 13 N/C NoConnection 16 N/C NoConnection 14 BIAS3B RF3Bias 15 BIAS2A RF2Bias ADVANCED PRODUCT INFORMATION - Rev 0.4 10/2009 APS3606 ELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTICS Table 2: Absolute Minimum and Maximum Ratings PArAmeter min mAX unit SupplyVoltage(VCC) 0 +8 V AGCInputVoltage(VAGC) 0 +5 V RFInputPower(PIN) - +25 dBmV commentS differentialinto75 Stresses in excess of the absolute ratings may cause permanent damage.
