Functional Diagram
General Description
The HMC441LH5 is a broadband 7 to 15.5 GHz
GaAs PHEMT MMIC Medium Power Amplifier housed
in a hermetic SMT leadless package. The amplifier
provides 15 dB of gain and 21.5 dBm of saturated
power at 25% PAE from a +5V supply. This 50 Ohm
matched amplifier does not require any external
components, and the RF I/Os are DC blocked,
making it an ideal linear gain block or driver amplifier.
The HMC441LH5 allows the use of surface mount
manufacturing techniques and is suitable for high
reliability military, industrial & space applications.

The circuit board used in the final application should
use RF circuit design techniques. Signal lines
should have 50 ohm impedance while the package
ground leads and exposed paddle should be connected directly to the ground plane similar to that
shown. A sufficient number of via holes should be
used to connect the top and bottom ground planes.
The evaluation circuit board shown is available from
Hittite upon request.
