The procedure of IT8212’s hot swap function is as follows: Power off the HD è Plug out the HD è Plug in a HD è Power on the HD 2. During the hot swapping procedure, IT8212 is trying to implement hardware reset command to HD through the Reset# signal on IDE cable. 3. After the hardware reset command is implemented to HD, IT8212 will get some expectable information from HD then check each HD’s status based on it. 4. If there is no Reset# signal on IDE cable, IT8212 can’t reset HD successfully in the hot swapping procedure and it may fail to perform IT8212’s hot swap function and make the system abnormal. 5.
