CYPRESS CVT- 2240 Wiegand -> ASCII Converter INDUSTRY LEADERS DEPEND ON US ...FOR SOLUTIONS Cypress Computer Systems, Inc. • 1778 Imlay City Rd. • Lapeer, MI 48446-3206 TX(810)245-2300 • FX(810)245-2332 • www.cypresscom.com Converts encoded badge information from Wiegand readers to an ASCII string. RS-232 Any Wiegand output reader CVT-2240 Features • Encoded badge information is transmitted as an ASCII string. • The Reader's LED is activated by receiving a command string. • A command sequence also controls an on-board relay. Description When connected to any Wiegand output reader, the encoded badge information is output as a formatted ASCII string. The output of the CVT-2240 can then be captured by a communications program running on a PC or printed directly on a serial printer. In addition, commands can be sent to the CVT-2240 to control the reader's LED and activate an auxiliary relay located on the Converter's circuit board. Applications Verifying encoded badge information. Creating a database of existing badges. Entering badge information into a program. Testing badge or reader integrity. Remote Control of Door strikes, MagLocks, Turnstiles, and Gate arms. 3.1 2.5 2.9 1.1 side view Wiegand to ASCII Converter CVT-2240 +8 to +24 Vdc @ 150 ma Ground +5 Vdc @ 100 ma Data 0 Open Collector or 5 Vdc Pulses Data 1 LED Open Collector (30 Vdc Max) Ground DB-9 Female Normally Open Normally Closed Common Door Strike Relay 125 Vac @ 1 Amp DB-9 Female 1...DCD unused 2...RX Data from Terminal/Printer 3...TX Data from CVT-2240 4...DTR unused 5...Ground 5 4 3 2 1 6...DSR unused 7...RTS 8...CTS 9 8 7 6 9...RI unused Cypress Computer Systems, Inc. • 1778 Imlay City Road • Lapeer, MI 48446 TX(810)245-2300 • FX(810)245-2332 • www.cypresscom.com Cables TX RX Gnd 3 2 5 3 RX 2 TX 7 Gnd CVT-2240 DB-9 Male TX RX Gnd Computer DB-25 Female 3 2 5 2 RX 3 TX 7 Gnd CVT-2240 DB-9 Male TX RX Gnd Printer DB-25 Male 3 2 5 2 RX 3 TX 5 Gnd Computer DB-9 Female CVT-2240 DB-9 Male Communications: 9600 BPS ASYNC, 8 bits, 1 Stop, No Parity RX Data: Turn LED on................
