New Products Mobile phones, digital cameras, and other electronic devices that use complicated hinging movement are now widely available. As the wiring materials within the hinges need to be highly flexuous, micro coax cable is generally used. Currently, various connectors are also being developed for connecting micro coax cables with the substrate circuits. Fujikura has developed micro coax cable with the conductor size of AWG42 for 0.3-mm-pitch connectors. Using a structure that combines a copper alloy conductor with fluorocarbon polymer, and improvements in thin extrusion production technology, we achieved a diameter of 0.29 mm. It provides both better flexibility and higher bendability than the conventional cable, which makes it easy to introduce the hinges with narrow wiring spaces. In response to the requirement about space and assembly operation, Fujikura has developed a hybrid wiring material that combines micro coax cable and FPC with high-precision and Pb-free-soldering technology. The hybrid wiring material can also contribute to an increase in the possibility of equipment design. Micro Coax Cable Assembly Table 1.
