■ Fujikura FPCs for mobile communication equipment
The picture shows a Fujikura FPC for mobile devices such as smartphones.
Our FPCs populated with fine pitch traces and small VIA holes ensure high-density wiring and
high-density assembly using fine-pitch connectors, CSPs, and micro components.
In addition, we are also working on reducing the thickness of multilayer FPCs to fit them into thin
housings.
These techniques contribute to the miniaturization and sophistication of mobile devices.

■ USB3.0 Multi-core Interface
Cable Assembly
USB3.0(5Gb/s) of fers 10times data transmission speed of USB2.0 to
handle increased volumes of data such as those of moving images.
Therefore, USB3.0 devices are now widely used for PC peripherals and
mobile equipment. Our 1m-long, 3.6-mm-diameter cable assemblies are
designed to provide ease of storage and flexibility. The assemblies
connectable to various connectors received the world's first certification
from USB-IF.
In addition, our customizable ultrafine USB cables focusing on further
miniaturization and greater portability include pocket-size USB cables, which
require a minimum length of 20-50mm.

■ WABE Package®(Wafer And Board level device Embedded Package)
■ Fujikura FPCs for high-speed
signal transmission
Fujikura helps its customers from the design stage
with impedance control needed for a high-speed signal
transmission line and apply the techniques to the
development of various products.
As part of the impedance control efforts, our FPC
uses LCP(liquid crystal polymer) as the base material of
the substrate instead of polyimide, a conventionally
used material.
The new material with a low dielectric constant and low losses
improves the transmission characteristics and speeds up signal transmission.

■ Film Antenna
We use our proprietary design technique to develop film
antennas that are small but have high radiation efficiency
for use inside mobile devices. These antennas are so thin
that they can be attached to curved surfaces within a
device housing and to molded resin products. We also
have developed highly transparent film antennas by
adjusting the widths and pitches of traces that have a
square mesh structure. These antennas are mountable on
the front part of a device because they provide the same
level of radiation ef ficiency as common antennas and high
transparency.

■ Micro Coaxial Cable Assembly
Many customers use our micro coaxial cable assemblies
WABE Package ® (Wafer And Board level device Embedded Package) is an FPC-based
multi-layered circuit board. It is one of the slimmest embedded boards in the world and includes a
WLCSP-IC(wafer-level chip size package IC) and thin passive components. The products are
expected to be used in various modules of small electronic devices such as mobile phones,
advanced semiconductor packages, and micro SiP (System in Package) modules.

■ Touch Sensor and Touch Panel Module
Fujikura manufactures thin wiring products
including membrane switches for notebook PC key
boards, HMI(human machine interface) products
such as sheet keys for digital home electric
appliances, and FPC and membrane circuit boards.
Using the technologies nurtured in these product
fields, we develop high-value-added HMI products,
for example, touch sensors featuring three switch
functions, hover, touch and slide, and click. The HMI
products also include touch panels that allow
various drawing expressions by detecting writing
pressure.

■ Healthcare Support Membrane Switch
as wiring materials in components that open and close or
rotate, such as those in mobile phones and electronic
devices because of the excellent high-speed transmission
characteristics and high flexibility.
Moreover, waterproof micro coaxial cable assemblies
used within waterproof structures connecting two housing
components mean that even if parts that open and close
or rotate are exposed to water, the water will not leak into
the housing.
Fujikura's membrane switches find applications in
the healthcare support field. For example, these
switches are used in disposable electrodes of Holter
electrocardiographs for observing heart rate
variations during daily life. They are well-received in
the market because of ease and comfort of wearing
for examinees. Our other commercially available
products include bed mattress switches to indicate
wandering of people with dementia and emergency
stop switches of CT scanners.
