IS31AP4915A 20VP-P Charge Pump Ceramic Speaker Driver Evaluation Board Guide DESCRIPTION RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT The IS31AP4915A features a mono power amplifier with an integrated charge-pump power supply specifically designed to drive the high capacitance of a ceramic loudspeaker. The IS31AP4915A maximizes battery life by offering high performance efficiency. The IS31AP4915A is ideally suited to deliver the high output-voltage swing required to drive ceramic/piezoelectric speakers. FEATURES Integrated charge-pump power supply - no inductor required Thermal protection Pop reduction circuitry 20VP-P voltage swing into piezoelectric speaker Space saving packages, QFN-16 (4mm × 4mm) 5.0V, 1A power supply Single-ended audio source (i.e. MP3 player, Notebook PC, etc.) with 3.5mm plug Ceramic Speaker ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM RATINGS ≤ 6.5V power supply Audio source VP-P ≤ ½VCC Caution: Do not exceed the conditions listed above; otherwise the board will be damaged. PROCEDURE The IS31AP4915A evaluation board is fully assembled and tested. Follow the steps listed below to verify board operation. Caution: Do not turn on the power supply until all connections are completed. QUICK START 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) Connect the Ceramic Speaker to (OUT+, OUT-). Connect the ground terminal of the power supply to the GND and the positive terminal to the VCC. Or connect DC power to connector (DC IN). Connect the audio source to the IN and GND terminals or connect and audio source to the 3.5mm mini jack (AUDIO IN). Turn on the power supply, and pay attention to the supply current. If the current exceeds 300mA, please check for circuit fault. Turn on the audio source. The audio source VP-P should be less than ½VCC to ensure excellent performance.
