Low profile planar inductors are smaller and less expensive than comparable magnet wire or copper foil wound designs. The flat wire in the planar structure results in lower skin effect than realized with similar magnet wire designs. The integral, self leaded, surface mount construction eliminates the uncertainties of additional solder connections from the winding to terminating devices. Applications include low voltage/high current DC-DC converter input and output filters.
