Type FCN Surface Mount Film Capacitors FCN Surface Mount Highlights: • 16, 50, 100, 250 & 400 Vdc • 1000 pF to 1.0 µF • 1206 to 6040 SMT Case Sizes • Designed for Reflow Soldering • 85°C and 105°C Rated Type FCN SMT capacitors are the general purpose line of CDE’s surface mount product offerings. They range in capacitance from .001 µF to 1.0 µF, and they are availble in voltage ratings up to 400 Vdc Type FCN capacitors are designed for applications requiring a general purpose SMT capacitor with stable temperature and frequency characteristics similar to polyester film capacitors. They are ideal for applications such as EMI noise filtering, power supply input/output filters, audio or signal coupling, and IC power bus bypassing or decoupling. FCN SMT capacitors have a non-inductive stacked metallized PEN film construction which results in a low e.s.r. and excellent high frequency performance. General Specifications Nominal Capacitance Range: 1000 pF to 1.0 µF (1 kHz at ≤ 5 Vrms) Capacitance Tolerance: ±5% (J), ±10% (K) (See ratings tables for available tolerances) Dissipation Factor (Tan δ): 1.0 % Max. (1 kHz at ≤ 5 Vrms) Moisture Resistance: Capacitors subjected to 1000 hours at 40°C and 90% - 95% RH and rated voltage will not have any significant visual damage, will withstand 1.3 times the rated voltage for one minute, the capacitance will be within +8/-5% of the initial measured value, DF will be a maximum of 1.5 %, and IR will be a minimum of 100 Megohms (or 30 Megohm•µF for C > 0.33µF) . Operating Temperature Range: 16, 50, 100 Vdc (<.012µF); -55°C to +105°C 100 (≥.012 µF), 250, 400 Vdc; -40 °C to +85°C Dielectric Strength: 150% of rated Vdc for 60 seconds Insulation Resistance (at 20°C, after 60 seconds): C > .33 µF: I.R.=1000 MegΩ•µF Min. C ≤ .33 µF: I.R. ≥ 3000MegΩ Construction: Stacked metallized polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) film. 4 Life Test: Capacitors subjected to 1000 hours of maximum rated temperature and 125% of the rated voltage will not have any significant visual damage, the capacitance will be within +1/-6 % of the initial measured value, DF will be a maximum of 1.1%, and IR will be a minimum of 1000 Megohms (or 300 Megohm•µF for C > 0.33µF).
