1. Product Overview
1.1 Overview
This product is an option product for use with the DSU-FR emulator and is intended to support the
development of user systems that use the Fujitsu FR family of microcontrollers.
The main features of the adapter are as follows.
• The BGA-660P adapter type2 consists of the adapter and AC adapter.
• The adapter has an on-board IC socket for evaluation MCU (660-pin BGA package code:
BGA-660P-M02) .
• Used in conjunction with the header board to connect the user system to an emulator.
• Dual power supplies to the adapter are supplied from the user system via the AC adapter or
header board.
• Dual (VCC3, VCC5) user power supplies are monitored. The power supply voltage of each
supply voltage +1V (VCC3H, VCC5H) is supplied to the header board (upper limit value
5.4V, lower limit value 4.0V).
• The VCC3 pin of the evaluation MCU is connected to either a fixed 3.5V power supply or to
a power supply that follows the UVCC3 voltage down to a lower limit of 3.15V.
The power supply connection is selected using a jumper switch. Select the 3.5V fixed voltage
when using MB91V460.
• Each power supply supplied from the adapter (power supply supplied to VCC3H, VCC5H,
and VCC3 of evaluation MCU) monitors VCC3 or VCC5 of the user system, and shuts down
when the supply voltage drop to the shutdown voltage or less (initial value 2.5V and adjustment are possible).

2. Precautions When Using this Product
Take the precautions and restrictions below when using the adapter.
■ The cautions on use
• Operating the device outside the range of any general specification may cause the device to
malfunction. Use the device in the ranges of its general specifications.
• To set up and use the adapter, follow the instructions in this manual.
• Table 2.1 lists the temperature and humidity ranges for operating and storing the unit.

5 °C to 35 °C
20% to 80% (with no condensation)
Storage
0 °C to 70 °C
20% to 80% (with no condensation)
■ Restrictions
The following general restrictions apply to the adapter.
• Before setting any of the jumper plugs on the adapter, turn off all of the power supplies for
the adapter, emulator, and user system.
• Use an oscillator as the supply source of the CLK signal on the user system when the CLK
signal is supplied from the user system to the evaluation MCU.
• When the CLK signal is supplied from the user system to the evaluation MCU using an oscillator, the evaluation MCU has a restriction that, if the X0 or X1 pin must be opened, the jumper plug for selecting the corresponding CLK signal source must be removed. This also applies
to X0A and X1A.
• When the emulator is used, INITX jumper plug of the evaluation MCU should be set to the
emulator side INITX pin of the evaluation MCU is controlled by the emulator and the reset
signal from the user system is input to the evaluation MCU via the emulator. The reset timing
is therefore delayed several clock cycles from the actual reset timing. The reset command of
the emulator only resets the evaluation MCU; it does not reset the user system. In addition,
the signal sent from the user system to the INITX pin during a break is masked by the emulator.
• The pin state of the user bus when the evaluation MCU is in the user hold/low power consumption mode is the same as the one stated in the evaluation MCU hardware manual.
• No power is supplied to the user system from the adapter, header board, or emulator.
• The data of the internal ROM emulation memory, external ROM emulation memory, and external trace memory is lost when the power supply to the user system is disconnected.
• All measurement functions such as an external tracing facility and performance measurement
cannot be supported at MB2198-01 because an adapter board is connected with MB2198-01
by the DSU cable.
When the LQFP-176P header type3 (model number: MB2198-301) is used and MB91461 is emulated by MB91V460, the following restrictions are added.
• If the user system is accessed via an external bus when UVCC3 = 3.3V ± 0.3V and UVCC5
= 5V ± 10%, use the EPILRx.y registers (see the MB91V460 or MB91461 datasheets for details) to set the external bus input level to the 5V TTL level.
• The level shift function of the header board does not support the P28 and P29 ports (except
for P28_1, P28_2, P28_3, and P28_4) when UVCC3 = 3.3V ± 0.3V and UVCC5 = 5V ± 10%.
Therefore, these pins become 5V I/O terminal when these ports are used as general-purpose
ports.
5
• The level shift function is available on all I/O terminals of the MB91461 except as detailed
above.
Therefore, even if the VCC5 (pin numbers 176, 162, 147, 133) and VCC3 pins of the
MB91461 are connected to the power supply voltages to allow the MB91461 I/O terminals to
operate at a mixture of 3.3V ± 0.3V and 5V ± 10%, in order to enable the MB91V460 to interface with the user system pins that are driven at 3.3V ± 0.3V, the corresponding pins on the
MB91V460 should be pulled up to VCC5 (resistance: 10kΩ). Furthermore, because the pullup resistors are removable, they should be removed when not needed.
• When the power supply voltages are connected to the VCC5 (pin numbers 176, 162, 147, 133)
and VCC3 pins such that all of the I/O terminals that have the level shift function operate at
5V ± 10%, the voltage of signals input to the MB91V460 becomes 4.4V ± 0.1V.
• When you apply 5V ± 10% to VCC5 on the evaluation MCU using the LQFP-176P header
type3 (model number: MB2198-301), the clock input needs to be supplied from the adapter
because clock input from the user system is not supported.
• To access the external ROM emulation memory at impressing 3.3V ± 0.3V to VCC5 of
MB91V460, please insert 1 wait time.

Item
Description
An AC adapter (16V) is connected to the DC jack of the adapter to supply power to the evaluation
MCU, external trace memory and internal/external emulation memory on the adapter as well as the
level shifter on the header board. In addition, a power switch is supplied to allow power-up/powerdown from the AC adapter. A power supply lamp is linked to this power switch.
Power supply
The VCC3 pin of the evaluation MCU is connected to either a fixed 3.5V power supply or to a power supply that follows the UVCC3 voltage down to a lower limit of 3.15V. The VCC3SEL jumper
plug is used to select the power to be connected. The 3.5V fixed voltage is selected when using
MB91V460. For details of the jumper plug, refer to 4.1 “Jumper plug settings”.
UVCC5 or UVCC3 is connected to the VCC5 pin of the evaluation MCU. The VCC5 jumper plug
is used to select the connecting power. In general, the UVCC5 connection is expected. However,
UVCC3 is connected to VCC5 when the external bus pin of the mass-produced MCU (supported
power pin: VCC3) which is subject to emulation is operated at 5V and the general-purpose port
(supported power pin: VCC5) is operated at 3.3V during the use of MB91V460. In addition, the
power connected to VCC5 is monitored and the power to which 1V is added is connected as
VCC5H to the header board. Upper limit value is 5.4V and lower limit value is 4.0V.
UVCC3 or UVCC5 is monitored and the power to which 1V is added is connected as VCC3H to
the header board. Upper limit value is 5.4V and lower limit value is 4.0V. The VCC3H jumper plug
is used to select the monitoring power. The settings of this jumper plug do not affect the power connected to the VCC3 pin of the evaluation MCU.
A 0.1µF capacitor is separately connected to each VCC3C pin of the evaluation MCU
(Pin: AA38, Y37, Y36, Y35). Either VCC3 or VCC3C pin on the header board can be selected to
connect each VCC3C pin. The C jumper plug is used to perform this selection.
When UVCC3 or UVCC5 is monitored and the voltage drops down to the shutdown voltage value
or below (initial value: 2.5V), the power for the adapter (power supplied to VCC3H, VCC5H,
VCC3) is turned off. The SHDNSEL jumper plug is used to select the power to be monitored.
For details of the jumper plugs, refer to 4.1 “Jumper plug settings”.
CLK IC sockets
(X0/X1 × 1 unit ;
X0A/X1A × 1 unit)
IC sockets for crystal oscillator are provided to supply CLK signals from the adapter to the evaluation MCU. (CLK signals are not supplied to the user system.) Jumper plugs are used to switch the
supplying source of CLK signals between the user system and the adapter. Such plugs include X0,
X1, X0A and X1A.
For details of the jumper plugs, refer to “4.1 Jumper plug settings”.
The other jumper plugs and switches are as follows.
• INITX jumper plug:

to pin A96 of Header I/F Connector 1) as the INITX control source of the evaluation MCU.
• TRSTX jumper plug:
Selects the emulator (connected to pin 5 of DSU Connector) or the user system (connected
Other jumper plugs
and switches
to pin A96 of Header I/F Connector 1) as the TRSTX control source of the evaluation MCU.
• BREAK, ICD3, ICD2, ICD1 and ICD0 jumper plugs:
