A dynamic modification of receiver (RX) control registers is required when the receive CMU transitions between locked and unlocked states. In addition, if the transmit CMU is configured for reference less operation, Reg134[2:0] = 000b, the transmit (TX) control registers require modification when the transmit CMU transitions between locked and unlocked states. This dynamic register write procedure improves acquisition performance and causes no other changes to device performance. The new Si5040 datasheet (Rev 0.86) documents the dynamic RX & TX register write procedure that is highlighted in the table below.
