Description
The Model 325 (Universal Remote Interface for Control &
Acquisition) URICA interfaces remote HART field devices
such as the FIELDPAC 348 Field-Mounted Controller and
the Siemens line of smart transmitters to a variety of control
systems with Modbus RTU master interfaces. Through
URICA, a user can access all FIELDPAC 348 loop data
including setpoint, process, valve, and alarm information.
The Model 325 also provides a connection to the Siemens
line of transmitters to obtain their process information, range
limits, damping, and loop data.
URICA supports communication for up to 15 simultaneously
connected HART field devices on a single twisted pair.
Modbus masters can tie into multiple remote URICAs via
standard phone, radio, and fiber optic modems.
The front panel contains LED status lights, all terminal
connections, and an RS232 serial port. Asynchronous
communication between URICA and a MODBUS master is
provided via RS232, RS422, or RS485 communication
interfaces. DIP Switches, positioned on the rear of the circuit
board, are set to establish the chosen communications format.

Designed for Division 2 locations, URICA can be mounted in
an industrial enclosure, instrument cabinet, or on a desk.
With only three simple steps necessary to create a fully
operating system, the Model 325 has been designed for ease
of installation.
After power is applied, the Model 325 will automatically
detect the connected HART devices and make their data accessible via Modbus. Both writing and reading HART
device parameters, including any necessary error
checking and acknowledgments, are managed by the
Model 325 Universal Remote Interface.
