Fiber Optic Components 156 Mbps Receiver for POF HFD7520-2xx FEATURES ● ● ● ● Designed for POF (Plastic Optical Fiber) Monolithic structure immune from external noise Data rates from 4 to 156Mbps P-ECL voltage conversion output Note: Unlike normal P-ECL output, output can not be terminated with 50Ω (see Note 8, page 2) HFD7520-2xx Description Application The HFD7520-2xx is a monolithic integrated 156Mb/s Receiver designed for POF (Plastic Optical Fiber) data links. The high sensitivity and wide dynamic range allows operation in many applications. High resistance to external noise and high reliability is ensured by the monolithic chip design. The output provides P-ECL levels. The plastic SMA housing gives the user a cost effective module which can be easily mounted on the PCB. The HFD7520-2xx is designed to work with Honeywell’s high-speed 650nm LED HFE7020-210. Plastic optical fiber communication in factory automation, office machine, home automation and LAN. Data transmission in locations subject to high electromagnetic noise. Measured with 156Mbps input signal (Bi-phase signal) A 3pF capacitor is connected to GND as a capacitive load (including parasitic capacitance such as probes, connectors and evaluation PCB patterns) An optical input waveform is generated with a Honeywell standard transmitter A detectable signal level is an average value, measured using a plastic fiber (MH4001 made by Mitsubishi Rayon) A 3kΩ resistor is externally connected between Q and GND and also between QB and GND Note • A bypass capacitor (0.1µF) connected at a position within 2mm from the lead, and a 4.7µF capacitor is also connected to the power supply line nearby. • The optical axis of the package lens is exactly aligned with the center axis of the optical plug, and the gap between the lens surface and the optical reference plane of the plug is 0.1mm. • If modulated light at 4Mbps or less (including DC light and no light input) is input to HFD7520-2xx, the high and low levels cannot discerned.
