FEATURES The AP8202 is an audio enhancement processor based on SRS Labs’ WOW patented technology. WOW is a combination of SRS 3D, FOCUS and TruBass that creates a thrilling surround sound experience with deep rich bass from any stereo sound sources. The WOW technology makes up for the limitation inherent in smaller speaker and headphone by providing a panoramic 3D audio image that extends the sound in both the horizontal and vertical planes well beyond the speakers or headphones themselves. SRS 3D restores the spatial cues and ambient information that is lost during standard stereo playback. FOCUS helps to reposition a sound image from any non-optimally located speaker to a more optimal listening position or height and improves clarity of sounds. In addition, TruBass, a patented bass enhancement technology, offers dramatic improvement in bass tones that are often lost during compression or unable to be delivered by small speakers. SRS 3D, TruBass, FOCUS and Bypass Functions Headphone mode TruBass Bypass Function FOCUS Bypass Function Punch, Width and FOCUS Control Bandpass filter options for different speaker size Operating Voltage: 2.5V to 5.5V Operating Temperature: 0oC to 70oC 3. If Headphone mode will not be used for the application, SW4 and R12 can be removed from PCB and then normal mode is selected automatically. R30 and R31 should be added only when the chip’s operating voltage is below 3.3V. The TruBass filter setting depends on the resonant frequency (fo) of the speaker. Choose different filter settings in accordance with fo of the speaker for the actual application.
