The regulator is off during the sleep mode to reduce the current consumption. Vcc 8mA Cboot 6V Out Load The 8mA current source flows permanently on the output when the output is off and the part is not in sleep mode. In case of an open load condition, the output voltage will be at Vcc-6V. Wake up sequence To wake up the part from the sleep mode, the input must be activated at least during Twkp, then the boostrap regulator is switched on and the boostrap capacitor is charged. The output will be not activated during Tpw on rst. www.irf.com 6 AUIPS7221R Tsleep IN Tpw on rst out Twkp sleep mode Normal mode sleep mode Figure 2 IN Tpw on rst out Twkp sleep mode Normal mode Figure 3 www.irf.com 7 AUIPS7221R 40 Isd, Over-current shutdown (A) Rds(on), Drain-to-Source On Resistance (Normalized) 200% 150% 100% 50% -50 0 50 100 30 20 10 0 -50 150 Tj, junction temperature (°C) Figure 5 - Normalized Rds(on) (%) Vs Tj (°C) 100 150 2.0 On and Off delay time (µs) tr 0.4 Rising and falling time (µs) 50 Figure 6 – Isd (A) Vs Tj (°C) 0.5 tf 0.3 0.2 0.1 0.0 -50 0 Tj, junction temperature (°C) 0 50 100 150 Tj, junction temperature (°C) 1.5 1.0 tdon 0.5 tdoff 0.0 -50 0 50 100 150 Tj, junction temperature (°C) Figure 8 – tdon / tdoff (µs) Vs Tj (°C) Figure 7 – tr / tf (µs) Vs Tj (°C) www.irf.com 8 5 100 Icc off, supply leakage current (µA) Zth, transient thermal impedance (°C/W) AUIPS7221R 10 1 0.1 0.01 1e-5 1e-4 1e-3 1e-2 1e-1 1e+0 1e+1 1e+2 1e+3 Time (s) 4 3 2 1 0 -50 0 50 100 150 Tj, junction temperature (°C) Figure 9 – Transient thermal impedance (°C/W) Vs time (s) Figure 10 – Icc off (µA) Vs Tj (°C) Icc off, supply current (µA) 0.20 0.15 0.10 0.05 0.00 0 10 20 30 40 50 Vcc, supply voltage (V) Figure 11 – Icc off(A) Vs Vcc (V) www.irf.com 9 AUIPS7221R Case Outline 5 Lead – DPAK www.irf.com 10 AUIPS7221R Tape & Reel www.irf.com 5 Lead – DPAK 11 AUIPS7221R Part Marking Information Ordering Information Base Part Number Standard Pack Package Type Complete Part Number Form Tube AUIPS7221R www.irf.com D-Pak-5-Lead Quantity 75 AUIPS7221R Tape and reel 2000 AUIPS7221RTR Tape and reel left 3000 AUIPS7221RTRL Tape and reel right 3000 AUIPS7221RTRR 12 AUIPS7221R IMPORTANT NOTICE Unless specifically designated for the automotive market, International Rectifier Corporation and its subsidiaries (IR) reserve the right to make corrections, modifications, enhancements, improvements, and other changes to its products and services at any time and to discontinue any product or services without notice.
