Power and Voltage Rating Improvements for the CRMV
Series of Thick Film Medium-Voltage Chip Resistors
Vishay Techno recently increased the power ratings and
maximum working voltages for its CRMV series of
medium-voltage thick film chip resistors. Unlike standard
chip resistors, which have rectangular resistive elements,
the CRMV series has a serpentine resistive element,
which makes them capable of operating at a much higher
maximum working voltage than a standard part. The
CRMV series comes in five case sizes ranging from 1206
through 2512, and is available with tolerances down to
± 0.5 %. CRMV series chip resistors have a wide range of
resistance values from 150 Ω to 75 MΩ, and are offered
with several different termination materials suitable for
use in solderable, wire-bondable, or epoxy-bondable
applications. The solderable CRMV products are
available with either a lead (Pb)-bearing or a lead
(Pb)-free solder finish on the terminations.
Based on recent testing, new power ratings for the CRMV series will range from 0.30 W to 1.0 W, and
the new maximum working voltage will range from 550 V to 1415 V. The table below shows how each
part’s new power rating and maximum working voltage compare to its historic ratings.
