Harwin Test Report Summary HT01401 IP68 Testing of HotShoe Connectors (M90-604, M90-605, M90-606, M90-704, M90-706) HT01401 Test Report for HotShoe Connectors IP68 Testing 1. Introduction. 1.1. Description and Purpose. The Harwin M90 Series Hot Shoe Connectors are manufactured to the requirements of IP68 ingress requirements. The following tests were carried out to confirm that the following part numbers meet IP68 requirements: a) M90-604XX45 Spring plunger connector for 1.5mm thick panel with 4mm PC-tails b) M90-605XX45 Spring plunger connector for 1.5mm thick panel with 3mm PC-tails c) M90-606XX45 Spring plunger connector for 1.5mm thick panel with 26AWG solder tails d) M90-704XX45 Fixed contact connector for 1.5mm thick panel with 5mm PC-tails e) M90-706XX45 Fixed contact connector for 1.5mm thick panel with 22AWG solder tails 1.2. Conclusion. The following test data has been collated from Harwin test report 507. The units were subjected to the dust ingress test outlined in section 2.2: IP6X category 2 dust ingress tests carried out in accordance with BS EN 60529: 1992. No ingress of dust was noted to have entered any of the samples in both the mated and unmated states. A second set of units were subjected to the water ingress test outlined in section 2.3: IPX8 water ingress test carried out in accordance with BS EN 60529: 1992. No ingress of water was noted to have passed through the connector seals in both the mated and unmated states. The connectors can therefore be classed as IP68 rated (2 hours at 1.5m), both as mated connectors, and as unmated panel mounted connectors. 2. Test Method, Requirements and Results. 2.1. List of Test Samples. Test Method and Results Dust Ingress One pair of M90-6041645 and M90-7041645 (mounted in IP rated enclosures) were mated, a second pair was left unmated. The samples were subjected to an IP6X Dust Ingress Test, in accordance with BS EN 60529:1992, using the following conditions: duration = 8 hours dust exposure, Relative Humidity = 51.7%. On completion of testing the samples were inspected for any signs of dust ingress. No ingress of dust was noted to have entered any of the samples. 2.3. Test Method and Results Water Ingress One pair of M90-6041645 and M90-7041645 (mounted in IP rated enclosures) were mated, a second pair was left unmated. The samples were subjected to an IPX8 water ingress test carried out in accordance with BS EN 60529: 1992, with a 2 hour duration at a depth of 1.5 metres. The temperature difference between sample and water should be no more than 5°C. On completion of testing the samples were inspected for any signs of water ingress. No ingress of water was noted to have passed through the connector seals.
