CPI’s Solid State Power Amplifiers are rugged, highly-efficient and easy to maintain. The VSS3607 Solid State Power Amplifiers are designed for use in military radar applications and cover the 2.7 – 2.9 GHz frequency band. Gallium nitride transistors are combined into 1.3 kW bricks which are air cooled. The 1.3 kW bricks can be power-combined using radial combiners and waveguide combiners for high power transmitters. Optimized for Pulsed Radars This amplifier utilizes GaN transistors to provide high gain, high efficiency and excellent pulse fidelity. The result is excellent AM/PM, phase-noise and spectral regrowth performance. This amplifier is compliant to NTIA regulatory requirements for this frequency. •• Solid Power Amplifiers Amplifiers• •Integrated IntegratedMicrowave Microwave Assemblies Solid State State Power Assemblies ••Receiver ControlComponents Components• •Transmitters Transmitters • Amplifiers Receiver Protectors Protectors •• Control • Amplifiers •• Modulators Magnetrons• •Crossed CrossedField FieldAmplifiers Amplifiers Modulators •• Magnetrons • Ring Loop Loop Traveling TravelingWave WaveTubes Tubes• •Power PowerCouplers Couplers Beverly Microwave Division www.cpii.com/bmd S-Band GaN Solid State Power Amplifier - VSS3607 Frequency Range Specifications 2.700 to 2.900 GHz Minimum Saturated Peak RF Output Typical Pulse Width 1.3 kW 1 to 100 µsec Maximum Pulse Droop 0.5 dB Duty Cycle 10% Output Power Flatness Across Frequency range Nominal Small Signal Gain 1 dB 50 dB Prime Power Specifications Ambient Temperature 100% non-condensing Altitude - Operating - Non-operating Shock and Vibration 30,000 feet (9.14km) 70,000 feet (21.34km) Ruggedized for harsh environments Forced air Cooling RF Input Connection 1.5:1 RF Output Connection Maximum Output VSWR 1.5:1 RF Output Monitor -65 dBc -110 dBm/Hz Maximum Interpulse Thermal Noise Noise Power Density -100 dBc into a 100 MHz bandwidth MTBF >140,000 hours NTIA Compliance Compliant for a radar of this frequency – with customer pulse shaping as required. -32C to +70C operating Relative Humidity Maximum Input VSWR Harmonic Output 31 VDC @ 14 amps SMA female Type N female Control connector Dimensions (width) 9.5 in (24.13cm) Dimensions (height) 1.75 in (4.45cm) Dimensions (depth) 15.5 in (39.37cm) Weight O/P Isolator (optional) 11 lbs.
