October 11, 2012 Nihon Dempa Kogyo Co., Ltd. President: Hiroshi Takeuchi Wide-temperature-range, high-stability TCXO for optical communication systems or mobile base stations developed Nihon Dempa Kogyo Co., Ltd. has developed a temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) that meets the standard for reference signal oscillators used for optical communication systems or mobile base stations. The new TCXO shows frequency temperature characteristics of max. ±50 ppb in the temperature range from -40°C to +85°C, achieving the world's top-level high stability in this very wide temperature range for a TCXO (dimensions 14.6×9.7×6.5 mm, output frequency range 5 to 40 MHz). As the optical communication systems use more and more network devices to support even faster and more data communications, the need for reducing the increasing power consumption has become a challenge. Reference signal oscillators used in such devices are required to achieve both high stability in frequency over a wide temperature range and substantial reduction of power consumption. To respond to the needs, NDK has made use of its own high-stability oscillation technology accumulated with oven controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO) and its proprietary digital signal processing IC in developing the new TCXO. As a result, the new TCXO achieves the temperature characteristics equivalent to those of OCXOs while keeping the typical feature of low power consumption as TCXOs, contributing to lower power consumption of optical communication systems and mobile base stations. Delivery of product samples is planned to be launched in March 2013 and mass production in May 2013. <Contact> Sales Representative, Nihon Dempa Kogyo Co., Ltd. e-mail: [email protected] * For sample requests, please contact NDK sales personnel or send e-mail to the address above.
