Industry’s lowest-current-consumption crystal clock oscillator developed
(2520 and 2016 sizes)
Nihon Dempa Kogyo Co., Ltd. has developed two crystal clock oscillator models
(NZ2520SJ; 2.5 × 2.0 × 0.9 mm/NZ2016SJ; 2.0 × 1.6 × 0.8 mm) featuring the industry's lowest
current consumption (max. 0.7 mA for 1.8 V, unloaded, 40 MHz).
Crystal clock oscillators have become indispensable as accurate clock signal sources for the
synchronization of multiple high-speed processing digital circuits in computers and various
other types of digital information equipment. In addition, voltage/current consumption by
today’s personal digital assistants (PDAs) including cell phones, tablet computers, laptops,
digital still cameras and digital video cameras, needs to be reduced in order to lighten the
battery load.
To satisfy these requirements, Nihon Dempa Kogyo has developed a crystal clock oscillator
by combining a proprietary crystal technology with an optimal integrated circuit (IC) for lower
current consumption, thereby achieving compactness, high precision and the lowest current
consumption of any such unit in the industry (65% lower than the company’s present
corresponding product).
Product sample delivery is currently in the planning stage, and the start of mass production is
scheduled for this month.
