SKY13431-374LF Block Diagram Description The SKY13431-374LF is a GaAs pHEMT Single-Pole, DoubleThrow (SPDT) high power switch with 50 Ω terminated outputs. The high linearity performance and low insertion loss achieved by the SKY13431-374LF make it an ideal choice for WiMAX and higher power WLAN applications such as access points. This part is designed for use in WLAN systems using discrete Power Amplifier (PA) and Low-Noise Amplifier (LNA) implementations. The 50 Ω impedance of the switch in the “off” state ensures good isolation regardless of the match to which the switch is connected. The SKY13431-374LF is manufactured in a compact, 1.5 x 1.5 mm, 6-pin Dual Flat No-Lead (DFN) package. A functional block diagram is shown in Figure 1. Functional Description Electrical and Mechanical Specifications Switching is controlled by two control voltage inputs, V1 and V2 (pins 1 and 3, respectively). Depending on the logic voltage level applied to the control pins, the RFC pin is connected to one of the two switched RF outputs, RF1 or RF2, using a low insertion loss path, while the path between the RFC pin and the other RF pin is in a high isolation state. The absolute maximum ratings of the SKY13431-374LF are provided in Table 2. Electrical specifications are provided in Table 3. DC blocking capacitors are required on all RF ports of the switch. The value of the capacitors determines the low frequency operation. The isolated RF output is internally teminated to 50 Ω. The return loss of the isolated port is limited in frequency by onchip capacitors. Typical performance characteristics of the SKY13431-374LF are illustrated in Figures 3 through 6. The state of the SKY13431-374LF is determined by the logic provided in Table 4. Any state other than described in this Table places the switch into an undefined state. An undefined state will not damage the device. Evaluation Board Description Package and Handling Information The SKY13431-374LF Evaluation Board is used to test the performance of the SKY13431-374LF SPDT Switch. An Evaluation Board schematic diagram is provided in Figure 7. An assembly drawing for the Evaluation Board is shown in Figure 8. Instructions on the shipping container label regarding exposure to moisture after the container seal is broken must be followed. Otherwise, problems related to moisture absorption may occur when the part is subjected to high temperature during solder assembly. Package Dimensions The PCB layout footprint for the SKY13431-374LF is provided in Figure 9. Typical case markings are shown in Figure 10. Package dimensions for the 6-pin DFN are shown in Figure 11, and tape and reel dimensions are provided in Figure 12. The SKY13431-374LF is rated to Moisture Sensitivity Level 1 (MSL1) at 260 °C. It can be used for lead or lead-free soldering. For additional information, refer to the Skyworks Application Note, Solder Reflow Information, document number 200164. Care must be taken when attaching this product, whether it is done manually or in a production solder reflow environment.
