No matter how you look at it,
Features
& Benefits
1. Compact Design: Saves
valuable panel space.
2. Touch Safe Design: Protects
employees from direct or
indirect contact with live
parts (meets IP-20).
3. Dual-Port Wire Management
System: Simplifies installation
of multiple loads connected
to a single branch circuit.
(30A only)
4. Integral 35mm DIN Rail
Adapter: Provides convenient
mounting means, built in.
5. One Part Gangable System:
Reduced inventory, there’s no
need to stock multiple part
numbers. One part number
is used to make any combination of multiple pole blocks.
Compact Design
The Safety • J is designed to have the
smallest footprint of any Class “J”
block on the market, 10% smaller
than our closest competitor. This
saves valuable panel space.

Touch Safe
Safety • J meets IP-20 - IEC 529
standard for touch safety. This also
means compliance with the National
Fire Protection Assoc. Standard 70E
for employee safety.
Dual Port Design (30A)
This new wire management feature
allows daisy-chaining to reduce
components and save mounting
time, where multiple circuits are
connected to a single branch circuit.
Safety • J offers Benefits
6. Removable Fuse Carrier:
Added Safety while replacing the fuse. The fuse is
replaced while removed
from the circuit.
7. Probe Holes in Carrier:
Easy access to fuse for
testing purposes.
8. Internal DIN Rail Release
Latch: Easily removed
from rail with screwdriver.
9. Reinforced Fuse Clips–
Standard: Repeatable low
resistance performance.
10. Built-in Labeling System:
Makes circuit marking a snap.
Shown as actual size
11. Wire Ready: Saves time as
terminals are ready to accept
wires.
12. Open Fuse Indication available: Fast response to identifying open fuses.*
*Load path and voltage source are required
for indication. Contact Applications
Engineering if you have questions at
(314) 527-1270.
Easy Installation
Mount the Safety • J directly to the
panel or snap it onto a 35mm DIN
rail w/no special adapters. This
provides maximum flexibility in
panel assembly.
One Piece Interlocking
Need to reduce inventory? The
Safety • J allows you to lock multiple
blocks together. No need to stock
numerous part numbers or additional accessories.
Removable Fuse Carrier
Remove and install the fuse away
from the circuit while maintaining
Touch Safe requirements at the base
unit. Added protection from accidental contact with live parts.
Safety • J provides superior protection
Why use Safety • J?
NEC 110-9
The National Electrical Code requires
that a device, used to open an electrical
circuit under a short circuit condition,
have an interrupting rating sufficient
for the current available at the point
of installation. Bussmann’s LPJ Class
“J” fuses have an unsurpassed interrupting rating of 300 kA. There is
little reason to worry about meeting
this safety requirement again.
NEC 110-10
The National Electrical Code also
requires protection of electrical
components from damage caused by
excess currents. Bussmann’s Class
“J” fuse provides excellent current
limitation, reducing fault currents to
a fraction of their original value.
NFPA - 70E
The NFPA 70E “Electrical Safety
Requirements for Employee
Workspaces” is designed to protect
employees. The standard states that
when working near an energized
electrical system (50V and over),
employees must be protected
“against contact with any part of the
body or indirectly through some
other conductive object.” Bussmann’s
Safety “J” fuse blocks guard against
accidental contact with live parts.
Available in indicating and non-indicating versions.

IEC 947-4-1*
IEC 947-4-1 offers two (2) standards
for protecting motor starters. Type “1”
protection is similar to UL 508, which
allows equipment to be destroyed
under certain overcurrent parameters.
Type “2” provides for a “NO DAMAGE” protection. Properly sized Class
“J” fuses offer Type “2” protection
when coordinated with contactor.
IP20
The IEC Standard 529 establishes a
system for classifying the degrees of
protection provided by enclosures of
electrical equipment. The standard
was originally developed to test
enclosures for protection of persons
against accidental contact with live
electrical components and the
ingress of solid foreign objects.
Other interpretations include the
components inside of the enclosure
when voltage is present and a maintenance person is working near the
equipment.

Note: * Switch size must be increased if the ampere rating of the fuse exceeds the ampere rating of the fuse block.
** If equipment terminations are rated for 60˚C conductors only, the 60˚C conductor ampacity must be utilized and therefore larger conductor sizes or conduit sizes may be required.
JT(N) specifies indicating or non-indicating versions of this fuse block.
