© Siemens AG 2016 Level Measurement Continuous level measurement - Guided wave radar transmitters SITRANS LG series ■ Overview ■ Configuration Mounting on nozzle Flange Metal sheet Installation in non-metal vessel The Siemens SITRANS LG series are guided wave radar transmitters for level, level/interface, and volume measurement of liquids and solids. The SITRANS LG product line can handle changes in process conditions, high temperatures and pressures, and steam. The guided microwave principle requires a metal surface on the process fitting. Therefore, use in plastic vessels etc. an instrument version with flange (from DN 50) or place a metal sheet, Ø > 200 mm (8 inch), beneath the process fitting when screwing it in. Make sure that the plate has direct contact with the process fitting Mounting socket If possible, avoid sockets, mount the sensor flush with the vessel top. If this is not possible, use short sockets with small diameter. Higher sockets or sockets with a bigger diameter can generally be used. They simply increase the upper blocking distance. Check if this is relevant for your measurement. By doing this, you avoid damage to the electronics through inductive coupling. Inflowing medium Do not mount the instruments in or above the filling stream. Make sure that you detect the product surface, not the inflowing product.
