USM-8 Features • Available in 8-circuit increments. Universal Signal Module • Compatible with IF632 and IF650 systems. • Module removal without disturbing field wiring. • LED annunciation of circuit activation and trouble. g2024ph1.jpg Description • Programmable via front panel or PC. The Universal Signal Module (USM) is a multifunctional output module that is available in eight-circuit increments, designed to provide audible and visual annunciation of alarm conditions. The USM-8 is compatible with both IF632 and IF650 systems. The USM-8 can be configured for 24 VDC signaling. The USM-8 includes a display module which provides LED annunciation of circuit activation and troubles. The display module has space for custom labeling of each circuit. Each circuit has a tactile switch on the display module for programming circuit functions and bypass. Operation If the FACP’s CPU receives a value indicating that there is a ground fault condition on the field wiring of the module, the system will annunciate a trouble. If the FACP receives an alarm from one of its connected devices, the circuits programmed for response will then activate and the appropriate Circuit Active LED will light. Engineer’s Specifications Universal Signal Modules (USMs) shall be provided for emergency evacuation signaling. The Universal Signal Module shall supply outputs for driving audible and visual devices. The same module shall be capable of supervising and distributing audio/visual power. Universal Signal Modules shall be capable of being wired for either Style Y or Style Z operation. Universal Signal Module shall be Gamewell USM-8. CS-2024 • Requires one MPU bus position. • Pairs of circuits can be configured as 24 VDC steady output, coded, temporal, march time, etc. • Ground fault detection. • Selectable default alarm mode operation. • Power-limited circuits. • Inrush-tolerant circuits. • 2.0 Amp output circuits. Specifications Standby current The Universal Signal Module (USM-8) monitors each circuit’s value. The Fire Alarm Control Panel’s (FACP’s) main CPU processes the information to determine the state of each notification appliance circuit’s wiring and condition of the connected devices. If the FACP’s CPU detects an off-normal reading, the system then executes its programmed response. USM-8 • Style Y and Z wiring. 09/01/06 Page 1 of 2 36 mA (8 circuits).
