NEC's HIGH ISOLATION VOLTAGE 4-PIN SOP OPTOCOUPLER PS2861-1 FEATURES DESCRIPTION • ISOLATION DISTANCE: 0.4 mm MIN. NEC's PS2861-1 is an optically coupled isolator containing a GaAs light emitting diode and an NPN silicon phototransistor. This device's insulation thickness of 0.4 mm meets BSI's supplementary insulation requirements. This package is mounted in a plastic SOP (Small Out-line Package) for high density applications and has a shield effect to cut off ambient light. • HIGH ISOLATION VOLTAGE: BV = 2500 Vr.m.s. • SOP (SMALL OUT-LINE PACKAGE) • HIGH SPEED SWITCHING: tr = 4 µs TYP, tf = 5 µs TYP APPLICATIONS • AVAILABLE ON TAPE AND REEL • MODEM • PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLERS • POWER SUPPLY ELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTICS (TA = 25°C) PART NUMBER Coupled Transistor Diode SYMBOLS PS2861-1 PARAMETERS UNITS VF Forward Voltage, IF = 5 mA V IR Reverse Current, VR = 5 V µA Ct Terminal Capacitance, V = 0, f = 1 MHz pF ICEO Collector to Emitter Dark Current, VCE = 40 V, IF = 0 mA nA CTR Current Transfer Ratio (IC/IF)1, IF = 5 mA, VCE = 5 V % VCE (sat) MIN TYP MAX 1.1 1.4 5 15 100 50 200 Collector Saturation Voltage, IF = 10 mA, IC = 2 mA V RI-O Isolation Resistance, VI-O = 1 kVDC Ω CI-O Isolation Capacitance, V = 0, f = 1 MHZ pF 0.4 Rise Time2, VCC = 5 V, IC = 2 mA, RL = 100 Ω µs 4 µs 5 tr tf Notes: 1. Recommended Soldering Conditions (1) Infrared reflow soldering • Peak reflow temperature 235 ûC (package surface temperature) • Time of temperature higher than 210 ûC 30 seconds or less • Number of reflows Three • Flux Rosin flux containing small amount of chlorine (The flux with a maximum chlorine content of 0.2 Wt % is recommended). Package Surface Temperature T (ûC) Recommended Temperature Profile of Infrared Reflow (heating) to 10 s 235 ûC (peak temperature) 210 ûC to 30 s 100 to 160 ûC 60 to 120 s (preheating) Time (s) (2) Dip soldering • Temperature 260 ûC or below (molten solder temperature) • Time 10 seconds or less • Number of times One (allowed to be dipped in solder including plastic mold portion) • Flux Rosin flux containing small amount of chlorine (The flux with a maximum chlorine content of 0.2 Wt % is recommended). (3) Cautions • Fluxes Avoid removing the residual flux with freon-based and chlorine-based cleaning solvent. 2. Cautions regarding noise Be aware that when voltage is applied suddenly between the photocoupler's input and output or between collector -emitters at startup, the output side may enter the on state, even if the voltage is within the absolute maximum ratings.
