ACUIX™ PTZ Dome Quick Installation Guide Pre-installation Instructions and Warnings ! Indoor pendant and in-ceiling: Ensure a 24 VAC @ 1.9A power source is available. All types of installations must be performed by qualified technical personnel and must be in accordance with all national and local mechanical and electrical codes. ! Outdoor pendant and rugged: Ensure a 24 VAC @ 2.5 A power source is available. These instructions are intended as a basic guide. It is recommended that you refer to the ACUIX User Guide for details not included due to space limitations. Ensure the mounting surface and installation hardware can hold the combined weight of the camera scan, housing and mount. All mounting hardware must have a minimum pullout strength of 600 lb (272 kg) per bolt. Not all models or options shown. The step order may also vary depending on the type of installation. To prevent damage to the interface board, follow standard industry precautions for electrostatic discharge sensitive devices. Step Properly seal all joints, bolts and screws to prevent moisture from entering the outdoor or rugged housing, or if an indoor model is installed in a wet environment or subject to exposure to moisture. 1 Set the Housing Interface Board Switches A Housing Interface Board U3 Set the RS485 termination and video selection switches. Seal perimeter to stop dust or debris from fallling from ceiling. For dropped ceilings, remove ceiling plate and place on dropped ceiling tile. Trim the tile and press into the plate. 2 If required, secure an installer supplied safety cable to a building support. A 3/32” (2.5 mm) plastic coated aircraft cable is recommended. 3 Place tile (including plate for dropped ceilings) and housing on the ceiling grid supports. 4 Insert through hole with wing tabs flat. Rotate tabs clockwise to tighten against ceiling. Ensure the space between wing tab and housing is greater than ceiling thickness, and wing tabs are staggered to different heights. Indoor and Outdoor Pendant 1 Route field wiring from mount through top of housing. To prevent the threads from binding, wrap the threaded nipple with Teflon® tape. 2 Thread housing onto mount. Refer below for the wire gauge required for maximum distances to maintain. The wire sizes and distances represent one 24 VAC power source for one ACUIX. Step 6 Refer to Install Scan Assembly into Housing Camera assembly installation is the same for all housing types. Refer to A G Remove the pluggable terminal strips from connectors J1 (24 VAC) and J6 (RS-485). If alarms are required, see inset G. 1 2 Loosen the screws on the terminal and insert wiring into the correct terminal. Tighten screw. 3 Install the 24 VAC power wires, data wires, video wires (if UTP is selected) and alarm wires to the correct positions on terminal strips J1, J4, J6, and J7. Ensure the yellow labeled terminal strip is plugged into the yellow labeled connector and the white labeled terminal strip into the white labeled connector. H Connect incoming coaxial cable to coaxial pigtail on the housing interface board. Tighten the screw on the terminal strip to secure the wire. 4 Plug the terminal strips into the respective connectors on the interface board. If you are using a coaxial cable for video, connect the field-run coaxial cable to J3. 5 Function Terminal Strip J1 Pin 1 Pin 2 Pin 3 Terminal Strip J4 Pin 1 Pin 2 Pin 3 Pin 4 Pin 5 Pin 6 Terminal Strip J6 Alarm 1 (A1) Alarm Common (CM) Alarm 2 (A2) Alarm 3 (A3) Alarm Common (CM) Alarm 4 (A4) Function Outdoor Pendant and Rugged 24 VAC Camera + Heater and Blower (2.5A) 30 feet (9.1 meters) 22 Indoor Pendant and In-Ceiling 24 VAC Camera Only (1.9A) 39 feet (11.8 meters) 20 62 feet (18.9 meters) 47 feet (14.3 meters) 18 99 feet (30.2 meters) 75 feet (22.9 meters) 16 157 feet (47.9 meters) 120 feet (36.6 meters) 14 250 feet (76.2 meters) 190 feet (58 meters) 12 328 feet (100.0 meters) 302 feet (92 meters) AWG Recommended Video, Data, Power, Alarm and UTP Cabling Type Recommended Cable Maximum Distance Video Coaxial Cable - RG59/U Connector BNC crimp on for RG59/U 1000 feet (305 meters) Data One shielded twisted pair, RS485 cable, can also be Cat5 or better 4000 feet (1219 meters) Power 18 AWG 2-conductor See gauge chart for each unit Alarm Belden 8205 10,000 feet (3048 meters) Cat5 or better; 1 twisted pair for data, 1 twisted pair for video 1200 feet (365.7 meters) Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) Video 2 Rotate and line up the scan assembly yellow label to the mounted housing yellow label.
