Application Note Helping Customers Innovate, Improve & Grow TX-801 – Application Note Operating Guidelines for the TX-801 family of TCXOs 1) Pin 6 RF output In case of clipped sine wave output a coupling capacitor of 1nF is necessary. 2) Pin 7 Phase noise Filter VI will enable the Phase noise filter to achieve the best possible Phase noise behavior. This requires a 33nF capacitor at Pin 7 to GND. Phase noise graphs shown on the catalogue datasheet are with Phase noise filter enabled. On request VI can disable the filter. This will automatically lead into a customized part number. In this case no 33nF capacitor is necessary and Pin 7 should be not connected. 3) Pin 8 Enable Control Pin If connected to Vs or open the TCXO will function. Enable pin function: TX-801 Pin 8 state: Pin 6 output: High Data Open Data Low No Data 4) Pin 9 supply voltage needs to be blocked by a 100nF capacitor to GND. Pin Connections 1 Voltage Control (VC) or No Connect (option) 2 Do not connect 3 Do not connect 4 Ground (GND) 5 Ground (GND) 6 RF Output 7 Phase Noise Filter Capacitor (optional) 8 Enable Control 9 Supply Voltage Input (VS) 10 Ground (GND) Temperature stability To achieve the specified temperature stability, it is mandatory that the RF output is connected to a 15pF load. Significant load differences will lead to a different frequency versus temperature behavior, as the TCXO’s are compensated with this load in the factory.
