It supports the Ultra2 (LVD) specification and provides a rich set of features and functions for monitoring and managing enclosures. The GEM312 supports the SCSI SAF-TE specification. The GEM312 features support for 12 drive slots, 6 power supplies, 6 fans, and 4 digital temperature sensors. An I2C serial interface and two general purpose output bits provide additional interface flexibility. Operating configuration is vendor programmable, allowing the use of a single GEM312-based enclosure in a variety of system configurations. The GEM312 block diagram is illustrated in figure 1. Pins that support these interfaces and other chip operations are shown in figure 2.
