J52 Refrigerant Level Switches D E S C R I P T I O N The Magnetrol Model J52 refrigerant level switches are float actuated units designed for use on liquids with 0.60 specific gravity and above. They utilize the Magnetrol magnetic principle to assure dependable performance. F E A T U R E S • Temperatures from -50° to +100° F (-46° to +38° C) • Maximum working pressure to 400 psig (28 bar) • Housing is completely sealed against entrance of moisture, preventing internal frost formation • Conduit seal with 24-inch (610 mm) lead wires prevents entrance of moisture laden air into the switch housing • Float chamber is a welded assembly fabricated from two low carbon steel sections and finished with an epoxy coating A G E N C Y Agency • High and low level switch actuation is easily field adjustable between 0.50 and 1.50 inches (13 and 38 mm), factory set for 1.50 • Housing base can be rotated 360° • Baffle plate provided with the switch mechanism to prevent electrical wiring interference • Housing choices of TYPE 4X steel, TYPE 4X/7/9 explosion proof, and TYPE 4 transparent Lexan® • Used with most commercial refrigerants including ammonia, freon, methyl chloride and sulphur dioxide • Optional cryogenic insulation available. As the float rises following the liquid level, it raises the attraction sleeve into the field of the magnet, which then snaps against the non-magnetic enclosing tube , actuating the switch . The enclosing tube provides a static pressure boundary between the switch mechanism and the process. On falling level, a spring retracts the magnet, deactivating the switch. 2 5 Pivot 6 4 Return Spring 1 3 Process Liquid Process Liquid Rising Level Falling Level S P E C I F I C A T I O N S I n c h e s ( m m ) Rotation Clearance TYPE 4X — 4.25 (108) TYPE 4X/7/9 — 6.00 (152) Basic Electrical Ratings Voltage Dry Contact Non-inductive Ampere Rating 120 VAC 15.00 240 VAC 15.00 24 VDC 6.00 120 VDC 0.50 240 VDC 0.25 1/2" NPT Conduit Connection may be rotated through 360° 15.00 (381) 24.00 (610) Long wires furnished 10.00 3/4" NPT (254) 3/4" Socket weld RISING LEVEL Actuating Levels R L Liquid Specific Gravity 0.60 0.80 1.00 1.20 1.30 1.40 1.50 1.60 1.70 1.00 1.44 1.69 1.88 1.94 2.00 2.06 2.13 2.13 (25) (37) (43) (48) (49) (51) (52) (54) (54) 2.38 2.63 2.81 2.94 3.00 3.06 3.06 3.13 3.13 (60) (69) (71) (75) (76) (78) (78) (80) (80) NOTE: Actuating levels are factory set for maximum differential between switch actuation.
