® Digital ES Modulevel w/HART Communication and Analog EZ Modulevel Electronic Liquid Level Transmitters Digital ES and Analog EZ Modulevels are advanced, intrinsically safe two-wire instruments, utilizing simple buoyancy principle to detect and convert liquid level changes into a stable 4–20 mA output signal. The linkage between the level sensing element and output electronics greatly simplifies mechanical design and construction. The in-line vertical design of the transmitter reduces instrument weight and simplifies installation. The Digital ES Modulevel has microprocessor-based electronics with HART compatible output, in addition to the standard 4–20 mA DC output. The Analog EZ Modulevel provides a 4–20 mA DC output only. Digital ES Modulevel Features • HART network compatible. • Remote calibration without moving level via HART compatible hand held unit. • Change specific gravity without stopping process via HART compatible hand held unit. • Push button program local calibration. • Continuous self-test with 22 mA DC fault signal and digital warning message. • Signal damping may be changed without stopping process via HART compatible hand held unit. • May be recalibrated without moving the level in tank. Digital ES and Analog EZ Modulevel Features • Two-wire, loop-powered, intrinsically safe. • Cast iron, NEMA 4X/7/9 housing. • Field selectable direct or reverse output. • Field wiring in isolated junction box. • Range spring suppresses the effect of turbulence to give stable output signal. • Special conduit seals prohibit moisture and condensation seepage into electronics. • Specific gravity to as low as 0.11. • Level ranges from 14 to 120 inches (356 to 3048 mm). • Non-interacting zero and span. • Interface option available. • 4–20 mA output signal. • Analog meter available. • Calibration stand available for bench calibration. • CSA and FM approved for hazardous locations. • Process temperatures to 600° F (315° C) for nonsteam applications. • Flanged top mounting or external cage with side/side or side/bottom connections. • Emission and immunity compliance to EN50 081-2 and EN50 082-2. • 316 SS displacer and internal trim on standard models. Applications • Feedwater heaters • Condensate drip pots • Scrubbers • Separators • Receivers • Flash tanks • Knock-out drums • Boilers Worldwide level and flow solutions Principle of operation Liquid level change acts upon the spring supported displacer causing vertical motion of a core within a linear variable differential transformer (LVDT). The enclosing tube acts as a static isolation barrier between the LVDT and the process media. As the core position changes with liquid level, voltages are induced in the secondary windings of the LVDT. These signals are processed in the electronic circuitry and used to control the current in the 4–20 mA output current loop. Digital ES transmitters add the HART output in addition to the analog 4–20 mA DC output. ,, , Electrical enclosure Printed circuit board LVDT Moving LVDT core External span and zero adjustment (EZ only) Terminal junction box Potted entrance seal Enclosing tube Range spring Displacer External cage Hand held option Digital ES models are compatible with Rosemount, Inc. model 275 D9E (English version) Hand Held Communicator. Programming must be added to the HART program for: • Dry set point • Set specific gravity • 20 mA by percentage • Damping Contact authorized HART distributors for ES program addition. Models covered by ESP service are conveniently color coded in the selection data chart below. To take advantage of ESP, simply Digital ES and Analog EZ transmitters are identified by a ten digit alphanumeric part numbering system. The part number describes model configuration, materials of construction, level ranges, and other options vital to the performance and function of the instrument.
