Description Purpose and application The 9-channel dimmer OT DMX 9x2A DIM SO is used for connecting constant voltage LED luminaires or modules and enables the user to create homogeneous colour moods, simulate daylight and create dynamic lighting effects in combination with appropriate DMX control units and user interfaces. OT DMX 9x2A DIM SO Function The connection of the dimmer to a DMX network control unit and the assignment of DMX addresses make it possible to individually control the nine pulse-width modulated (PWM) LED outputs (channels). K Design The dimmer is made up of the following components: 3/7 DMX GND J 3/7 DMX GND DMX GND 10-24 VDC 9-channel dimmer Operating instructions DMX GND H A • “DMX Out”/”DMX In” RJ45 connections for DMX signal output (A) and input (B) B • Ground for DMX output (C) C D E F • Ground for DMX input (E) • Screw terminals for DMX signal output (D) and input (F) • “status” / “DMX” LEDs (G) • Screw terminals for connecting the power supply (H) • Screw terminals for connecting the LED luminaires (J) • Switch for manually setting the DMX addresses (K) G LED display The integrated LEDs indicate the state of the power supply and DMX communication: Installation LED "status" (yellow) "DMX" (green) OFF/ flickers Power supply not connected No DMX connection/ No DMX signal detected ON Normal operation DMX signal detected Flashes Overcurrent on at least 1 LED output – Safety instructions The dimmer must only be installed and put into operation by a qualified electrician. The applicable safety regulations and accident prevention regulations must be observed. CAUTION! Destruction of the dimmer and other devices through incorrect mounting! L • Ensure that the power supply corresponds to the input voltage of the connected LEDs: 10 V for 10-V LEDs, 24 V for 24-V LEDs • Ensure that the connecting lines of the power supply are sized to conduct the total current required for the LED luminaires. • Do not exceed a max. input current of 14 A. • Note the device labelling. 10-24V DC 10-24 VDC M Connecting the power supply and LED luminaires/modules A power supply unit is needed for the dimmer and LED luminaires. Follow the safety instructions. The LED outputs are protected against short circuits. The affected output is switched off in the event of overcurrent or a short circuit. Connecting the DMX components Either the RJ45 connectors or the screw terminals can be used for the DMX connection. The corresponding contacts are interconnected internally. CAUTION! Destruction of the dimmer and other devices through incorrect mounting! • Do not connect the RJ45 and screw terminals simultaneously. • DMX input and output ground are not interconnected. Control unit: “DMX In” (B or F) Optionally, up to 32 dimmers (depending on cable length and cable quality) can be connected in a row: “DMX Out” (A or D) with “DMX In” (B or F) of the next dimmer in each case. RJ45 pin assignment: • Pin 1: DMX – • Pin 2: DMX + • Pin 3/7: DMX GND Operation Setting the DMX addresses To be able to individually control the nine LED outputs in a DMX network, the dimmer is assigned nine consecutive DMX addresses (default setting: 1 to 9), depending on the particular application. Follow the operating instructions of the control unit. Alternative 1: setting the DMX addresses manually The DMX address for LED output 1 (=DMX start address) can be set manually (default setting = 1) via the switch (K). The following DMX addresses are automatically assigned to LED outputs 2 to 9 (default setting: 2 to 9). Set the “manual addressing” switch to ON. Set the required switches (“1”, “2”, … “256”) to ON. The sum of the switches set to ON results in the DMX start address. For example: switches “2”, “4” and “16” are set to ON à DMX start address = 22 Alternative 2: automatic assignment The DMX addresses of all dimmers connected in a row are assigned automatically (dimmer 1 = 1 to 9; dimmer 2 = 10 to 18; etc.) Reset the DMX start address of all dimmers to 1; see below. Set the “manual addressing” switch to OFF. Assign the DMX addresses; see the control unit operating instructions. Reset the DMX start address to 1 Set all switches (“1”, “2”, … “256”) to OFF. 45,5 / 1.79 Appendix Technical data 76 / 2.99 107 / 4.21 58,4 / 2.3 Operating voltage 10 - 24 V DC Output current per channel 2 A Output load range per channel 0 … 20 W at 10 V DC 0 … 48 W at 24 V DC Max. output capacity 1 µF Max. input current for power supply 14 A Frequency of pulse width modulation 488 Hz Resolution of pulse width modulation 14 bit DMX protocol DMX512-A standard (isolated DMX output) Max. line cross-section (for connecting power supply and LED outputs) 1,5 mm² (for LED outputs) Operating temperature 0 °C … +50 °C Protection type IP 20 Weight 0.230 kg Dimensions (L x W x H) 107 x 76 x 59 mm 2,5 mm² (for power supply) The CE requirements as per EN 55020, EN 55024 and EN 60950 are fulfilled.
