The maximum output voltage may not exceed 100 V DC. Reverse operation is not allowed and may destroy the module. *) Exceeding maximum ratings for operating and storage temperature will reduce expected life time or destroy the LED Module. Exceeding maximum ratings for operating current will cause hazardous overload and will likely destroy the LED Module. Several modules may be connected in series up to the maximum voltage of 100 V DC (outside SELV limits). The temperature of the LED module must be measured at the Tc-point according to EN60598-1 in a thermally constant status with a temperature sensor or a temperature sensitive label. For exact location of the Tc-point see drawing below. Drawings Drawing is missing !!! OH06A - 25.11.2011 Page 2 of 4 Safety Information The LED module itself and all its components must not be mechanically stressed. Assembly must not damage or destroy conducting paths on the circuit board. Mechanical stress to the solder connection of the wires is not allowed. Eye security according to IEC 62471 is: medium risk class In order to drive OSRAM LED-Modules safely, it is absolutely necessary to operate them with an electronically stabilised power supply protecting against short circuits, overload and overheating. To also ease the luminaire/installation approval, electronic control gear for LED or LED modules should carry the CE mark and be ENE certified. In Europe the declarations of conformity must include the following standards: CE: EC 61374-2-13, EN 55015, IEC 61547 and IEC 61000-3-2 - ENEC: 61374-2-13 and IEC/EN 62384. Also check for the mark of an independent authorized certification institute. Please see the relevant brochure for more detailed information (see "Related and Further Information") OSRAM OPTOTRONIC® electronic control gear complies to all relevant standards and guarantees safe operation. Installation of LED modules (with power supplies) needs to be made with regard to all applicable electrical and safety standards. Only qualified personnel should be allowed to perform installations. Correct electrical polarity needs to be observed. Wrong polarity may destroy the module. Serial connection is highly recommended as safe electrical operation mode. Parallel connection is not recommended. Unbalanced voltage drop can cause hazardous overload and damage the LED module. Pay attention to standard ESD precautions when installing the module. Please ensure that the power supply is of adequate power to operate the total load. The recommended power supply is OT18/200-240/700 DIM. For reduced output power operation with OT 09/200-240/350, OT 09/200 240/350 DIM and OT 09/10-24/350 DIM is possible. For the OT 09/200-240/350, OT09/10-24/350DIM and OT18/200-240/700 DIM power supplies, the maximum number of OSRAM OSTAR®hex. modules per power supply is one. Otherwise the installation is not in compliance with SELV regulations. That means electric shock protection at secondary side - can no more longer assured. Based on product design following safety classes for luminaries are enable: Class I luminaire: <25V No SELV Class II luminaire: <25V SELV / No SELV Class III luminaire: <25V SELV Up to 2 OSRAM OSTAR®hex. modules can be driven with power supply OT 35/200-240/700. Using OSRAM OSTAR®hex. with OT 35/200-240/700 for luminaires of safety class I, II and III an additional creepage of 0.9 mm is necessary between OSRAM OSTAR®he and the mounting surface (heat sink). This can be fulfilled by use of electrically insulating, thermal interface materials, e.g. a thermally conductive, electrically insulating tape. The module, as manufactured, has no conformal coating and therefore offers no inherent protection against corrosion. Damage by corrosion will not be honoured as a materials defect claim. It is the user's responsibility to provide suitable protection agai corrosive agents such as moisture and condensation and other harmful elements. For applications involving exposure to humidity and dust the module must be protected by a fixture or housing with a suitable protectio class. OH06A - 25.11.2011 Page 3 of 4 Assembly Information Do not apply traction-, shear- and peel-forces to the module during assembly. Pay attention to pull relief for the cable in the applicatio The mounting of the module by means of M3 screws is only allowed for the marked mounting holes on the Metal-core circuit board (MCPCB), please see drawing page 2. Please use a torque of 0.8 Nm for fastening the screws. For protection of the MCPCB the use a plastic washer is highly recommended. The module should be in good thermal contact with the designed metallic mounting surface. Use of an appropriate heat sink compoun recommended to eliminate air gaps. During operation the following maximum Tc temperatures must not be exceeded: Tc < 100°C for current If < 500 mA, Tc < 90°C for If 700 mA, Tc < 75°C for If = 1 A. The module should only be adhered to flat surfaces. Installation to curved surfaces may limit the heat transfer from the LED to the hea sink.
