Cool-Power® PI3020-00 Advanced Datasheet – Digital Control and Telemetry Device Description Features The PI3020 is a Digital Control and Telemetry (DCT) device. It provides a programmable precision reference, high bandwidth analog error control loop and internal analog compensation as well as precision current sensing and optional programmed impedance control. Moving the sensitive analog compensation components internal to the PI3020 simplifies system implementation and circuit layout. Industry standard PMBus commands are supported for the reporting of telemetry, power sequencing, or in system programmable update or reconfiguration. A multiplexed 12bit A/D is provided, and a precision 3.1V reference pin is also provided. The PI3020 includes the proprietary SVID control interface with full support for server processor power VR13, and backwards compatibility support for VR12.5 and VR12.0 designs. Internally programmable analog control loop architecture enables high bandwidth linear operation with multiple zero and pole control. The high speed linear control operation reduces the size of the external power train filtering components, improves power density, and enables very fast dynamic response to line and load transients. The PI3020 supports large input to output conversion ratios and allows additional optimization of PRM+VTM systems.
