Measurement with ENA Multiport Solution
• Single connection with the 4-port ENA & two E5092As is available for 16-port full crossbar measurement.
• Fixture simulator on the ENA provides unbalanced-to-balanced conversion.

Step 2. Create a Setup File
2-1. Launch MWA Front-end Application
• Run the MWA Front-end application (“mwa_xxxx.xls”).
1. Copy the MWA Front-End application
•
Copy “mwa_xxxx.xls” in your PC.
•
Launch by double-clicking.
2. Enable Excel Macro
•
Click “Options..” on “Security Warning” tab.
•
Select either “Enable this contents” or
“Trust all documents from this publisher”.
Note: The latest revision of the MWA can be downloaded at: http://www.agilent.com/find/mwa
Note: Microsoft Excel 2007 is required to operate the Front-end application of the MWA with rev.1.11.

• Select the appropriate instrument and measurement configuration of the multiport
test set based on the test plan.
1. Select [E5092A X10-Port] of 10-port full crossbar configuration for E5092A #1 & #2.
2. Rename ports of E5092A #2 [7 to 16]

• Enter information of the DUT, port connection, and parameters of Fixture Simulator
functions on the ENA.
1. Assign differential port name of DUT (“P1” to “P8”)
2. Select [Differential] for DUT ports

2-4. Mode setup
• Define the operation mode of the DUT.
• Measurement will be performed for the mode that is turned on in this sheet.
1. Enter mode name ( “P1 to P8 Input”)
2. Turn on modes for test by double-clicking the cell
3. Setup High/Low bits for control line (optional)
Note: If DC control function of the E5092A is not used, no need to setup in the cell.

• Set GPIB commands for controlling other instruments connected to the ENA via
USB/GPIB interface.
Note: No need to setup in this sheet, if no peripherals are used for measurement with the MWA.

• Generate a spec sheet (*.mwa) including all setup parameters for measurement.
1. Identify required number of channels and traces on the ENA. (i.e. Max 56 channels and 2 traces)
Note: The MWA automatically allocates in channels/traces of the ENA, and the list of allocation is updated in this sheet.
2. Set the max number of channels and traces available on the ENA. (ex. “72 Ch, 9 Tr, 401 Points”)
3. Generate and save a spec
sheet (*.mwa)

• Setup the ENA & E5092A Configurable Multiport Test Set.
1. Set ID for E5092A
•
Assign different ID for each E5092A
ID Bit Switch on the E5092A rear panel
2. Connect USB cable
•
Connect the ENA & E5092A via USB cables
Bit 0 for the 1st test set (left),
Bit 1 for the 2nd test set (right)
Note: For more details on using multiple E5092As, see FAQ “Can we control multiple E5092As from
one ENA for increasing the number of test ports?”.

Note: When using two E5092As, it is highly recommended that the
instruments should be installed in a rack to avoid mechanical
damage of the connectors.

3-2. Launch the Back-end Application
• Run the MWA Back-end application after the channel/trace setup of the ENA
1. Setup Channel/Trace on the ENA
•
[System] > Service Menu > Channel/Trace Setup > “72 Ch / 9 Tr 401 Points”
•
Select the appropriate channel/trace setup based on the maximum required
channels or traces (See Output sheet of the MWA Front-end application.)
2. Copy the MWA Back-End application
• Copy “mwa_xxxx.vba” to the directory of ENA. (*1)
• Copy a spec sheet (*.mwa) created by Front-end application.
3. Select and launch the MWA Back-End application
•
[Macro Setup] > Load Project > Select “mwa_xxxx.vba”
•
[Macro Run]
*1: When saved under “D¥VBA” of the ENA, the Back-end application can be
directly launched by [Macro Setup] > Load & Run > “mwa_xxxx”

3-3. Import a setup file
• Import a setup file (spec sheet, *.mwa) created by the MWA Front-end application.
1. Select [Add Spec Sheet Group]
2. Create new group file (“*.ssg”)

• Perform necessary calibration with the calibration wizard of the MWA.
