Its low capacitance through the i-zone enhances the Intermodulation characteristics. Moreover, its relatively low Insertion Losses (IL=0.3dB @f=6GHz, If=0.5mA) make it an interesting solution for RF applications. The device is also available in different packages (TSLP-2-7(single diode), TSSLP-2-1 (single diode), TSLP-4-7 (anti-parallel pair of diodes) which fits to a large range of usage conditions. Application Note AN197, Rev. 1.0 5 / 14 2010-03-17 BAR90-02L BAR90 Pin Diode Switch for 2.4-2.5GHz WLAN Application Overview 2 Overview Device : BAR90-02L Application: WLAN 2.4-2.5GHz Application PCB Marking: BAR90 Pin diode switch 2.45GHz 3 Description This Application Note presents the measurement results of the BAR90-02L PIN-diode switch for 2.4 – 2.5 GHz WLAN and WiMAX applications. This PIN-diode switch is realized with two BAR90-02L diodes. We obtain an insertion loss of 0.6dB/0.9dB (referred to Table 1) in either Tx mode and Rx mode. Furthermore, the isolation provided by the switch with TSLP2 package is at least -24 dB. The Input and output of the BAR90-02L PIN-diode switch are matched to 50Ω with a minimum return loss of -14.9 dB in the Tx-ANT mode and -16.8 dB in the Rx-ANT mode. The actual BAR90-02L PIN-diode switch presents a very good linearity. By inserting an input power of 15 dBm, the output IP3 is better than 45 dBm. The input compression point with 0.1 dB insertion loss degradation is located at more than 30dBm. With this optimised application circuit, the setting time of as low as 75ns is achieved. The max. setting time from ANT-TX to ANT-RX is about 280ns.
