Can be easily combined to create high power C-band radar transmitters. CPI BMD’s solid state power amplifiers are reliable, highly-efficient and easy to maintain. The VSC3644 solid state power amplifiers are designed for use in maritime surveillance and weather radar transmitters and cover the 5.2 – 5.9 GHz frequency band. GaN transistors are combined into a 1.1 kW output and are air cooled. These 1.1 kW bricks can be power-combined using waveguide combiners to achieve the power levels required for various radars. •• Solid Power Amplifiers Amplifiers• •Integrated IntegratedMicrowave Microwave Assemblies Solid State State Power Assemblies ••Receiver ControlComponents Components• •Transmitters Transmitters • Amplifiers Receiver Protectors Protectors •• Control • Amplifiers •• Modulators Magnetrons• •Crossed CrossedField FieldAmplifiers Amplifiers Modulators •• Magnetrons • Ring Loop Loop Traveling TravelingWave WaveTubes Tubes• •Power PowerCouplers Couplers Applications: • Maritime and defense radars • High resolution weather radars Beverly Microwave Division C-Band GaN 1.1 kW Pulsed Solid State RF Power Amplifier Module - VSC3644 Frequency range Specifications 5.2 to 5.9 GHz Minimum saturated peak RF output Efficiency 1.1 kW 24% Typical pulse width 1 to 100 µsec Maximum pulse droop 0.5 dB Maximum duty cycle 10% Output power flatness across frequency range Nominal small signal gain 1 dB 46 dB Stability 65 dB Maximum interpulse thermal noise Noise power density Pulse repetition rate NTIA Compliance Prime power @ 10% duty Operating ambient Temperature Non-condensing relative humidity Operating altitude Shock and vibration Cooling RF Input connection 50 VDC @ 9.6 Amps +5º to +50º C 95% 15,000 ft (4.57 km) Rack mounted – ground benign Forced convection to +50C BMA male – rear panel 1.5:1 RF Output connection N-Jack -35 dBc RF Output and VSWR monitor Dimensions (width) Control connector Maximum output VSWR Harmonic output Mechanical and Environmental Specifications -165 dBm/Hz -100 dBc in a 100 MHz bandwidth To 1.2 KHz Compliant for a radar of this frequency – with customer pulse shaping as required. 1.97 in (5.0 cm) Dimensions (height) 9.3 in (23.6 cm) Dimensions (depth) 18 in (45.7 cm) excluding connectors 17.5 lbs (7.0 kg) Estimated weight VSC3644 Typical Output Power 100μs PW / 10% Duty 62.00 61.00 Output Power (dBm) 60.00 59.00 58.00 Input Power (dBm) 57.00 56.00 0 dBm 2 dBm 4 dBm 6 dBm 55.00 5.1 5.2 5.3 5.4 5.5 5.6 Frequency (GHz) 5.7 5.8 5.9 6 The values listed above represent specified limits for the product and are subject to change.
