CPI’s VSS3617 Solid State Power Amplifiers are rugged, highly-efficient and easy to maintain. The VSS3617 Solid State Power Amplifiers are designed for use as air traffic control radar transmitters and cover the 2.7 – 2.9 GHz frequency band. Gallium nitride transistors are combined into 1.3 kW bricks which are air cooled. The 1.3 kW bricks are power-combined using radial combiners and waveguide combiners. Optimized for Pulsed Radars This amplifier utilizes GaN transistors to provide high gain, high efficiency and excellent pulse fidelity. The result is excellent AM/PM, phase-noise and spectral regrowth performance. This amplifier is compliant to NTIA regulatory requirements for this frequency. •• Solid Power Amplifiers Amplifiers• •Integrated IntegratedMicrowave Microwave Assemblies Solid State State Power Assemblies ••Receiver ControlComponents Components• •Transmitters Transmitters • Amplifiers Receiver Protectors Protectors •• Control • Amplifiers •• Modulators Magnetrons• •Crossed CrossedField FieldAmplifiers Amplifiers Modulators •• Magnetrons • Ring Loop Loop Traveling TravelingWave WaveTubes Tubes• •Power PowerCouplers Couplers Beverly Microwave Division www.cpii.com/bmd S-Band GaN Solid State Power Amplifier - VSS3617 Frequency Range Specifications 2.7 to 2.9 GHz Minimum Saturated Peak RF Output Typical Pulse Width 12 kW 1 to 100 µsec Maximum Pulse Droop 0.5 dB Maximum Duty Cycle 10% Output Power Flatness across frequency range Nominal Small Signal Gain 1 dB 62 dB Stability 65 dB Maximum Output VSWR 1.5:1 Maximum Harmonic Output -65 dBc -165 dBm / Hz Maximum Interpulse Thermal Noise Noise Power Density -100 dBc into a 100 MHz bandwidth Pulse Repetition Rate 800 Hz – 1 KHz NTIA Compliance Compliant for a radar of this frequency – with customer pulse shaping as required.
