CPI’s Solid State Power Amplifiers are reliable, highly-efficient and easy to maintain. The VSS3634 Solid State Power Amplifiers are designed for use in air traffic control radar transmitters and cover the 2.6 – 3.0 GHz frequency band. GaN transistors are combined into 1.3 kW (VSS3634) bricks which are air cooled. These 1.3 kW bricks can be power-combined using radial combiners and waveguide combiners to achieve the power levels required for Air Traffic Control radars. • Air Traffic Control Radar VSS3617 Optimized for Air Traffic Control Radars This amplifier utilizes GaN transistors to provide high gain, high efficiency and excellent pulse fidelity. The result is excellent AM/PM, phase-noise and spectral regrowth performance. •• Solid Power Amplifiers Amplifiers• •Integrated IntegratedMicrowave Microwave Assemblies Solid State State Power Assemblies ••Receiver ControlComponents Components• •Transmitters Transmitters • Amplifiers Receiver Protectors Protectors •• Control • Amplifiers •• Modulators Magnetrons• •Crossed CrossedField FieldAmplifiers Amplifiers Modulators •• Magnetrons • Ring Loop Loop Traveling TravelingWave WaveTubes Tubes• •Power PowerCouplers Couplers Beverly Microwave Division www.cpii.com/bmd S-Band GaN Solid State Power Amplifier - VSS3634 Frequency Range Specifications Saturated Peak RF Output Typical Pulse Width Maximum Pulse Droop 2.6 to 3.0 GHz 1.3 kW 1 to 100 µsec 0.5 dB Specifications Prime Power Ambient Temperature Relative Humidity Altitude Operating Non-operating 31 VDC @ 14 Amps -32C to +70C operating 100% non-condensing 30,000 feet (9.14km) 70,000 feet (21.34km) Duty Cycle 10% Output Power Flatness Across Frequency range Nominal Small Signal Gain 1 dB Shock and Vibration 50 dB Cooling Forced air RF Input Connection BMA male Maximum Input VSWR 1.5:1 Maximum Output VSWR 1.5:1 Harmonic Output Maximum Interpulse Thermal Noise Noise Power Density MTBF NTIA Compliance -65 dBc -160 dBm/Hz -100 dBc into a 1 MHz bandwidth >140,000 hours Compliant with customer pulse shaping as required.
