Model TK1 Side-Mounted Float Level Switch DESCRIPTION The TK1 liquid level switches are float-actuated devices designed for horizontal mounting in a tank or process vessel through threaded or flanged connections. This low-cost switch is ideal for OEM applications where a single point high or low level alarm is desired. TECHNOLOGY The TK1 achieves switching action through the use of a magnet attached to the float assembly and the magnet’s interaction with a reed switch. As the liquid level changes, the float and, therefore, the float magnet, moves. The proximity of the float magnet to the reed switch causes the switch to change state, making or breaking an electrical circuit. FEATURES APPLICATIONS • Pressure ratings to 1500 psi (103 bar) • Storage tanks • Process temperature ratings to +300° F (149° C) • Process vessels • Specific gravity as low as 0.40 • High or low level alarm • 1.5" or 2" process connections • Low level shut-down • Compact design • Overflow protection • For use on rising or falling level • Explosion-proof installations • Reliable reed switch action • Seal pots • All stainless steel construction • Skids • OEM applications PHYSICAL SPECIFICATIONS Physical Range Minimum Specific Gravity Float and Trim Material Narrow differential, 0.50" 0.40 316/316L stainless steel with 18-8 stainless steel pivot pin Mounting Connection Material Process Connections 316/316L stainless steel 11⁄2" or 2" NPT or BSP threads 2" 150# or 300# ANSI flanges -40° to +300° F (-40° to +149° C) -40° to +160° F (-40° to +71° C) 1500 psi (103 bar) Process Temperature Range Ambient Temperature Range Maximum Process Pressure ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATIONS Type of Contacts Type of Switches Switch Ratings SPST, SPDT or DPDT Hermetically sealed reed switch with optional four-wire dry contact relay SPST, 100 VA, 240 VAC/VDC maximum, 1.0 A maximum switching current SPDT, 100W, 240 VAC/VDC maximum, 3.0 A maximum switching current 5 A @ 24 VDC hermetically sealed relay, 0.9W, 650 Ω resistance 5 A @ 120 VAC hermetically sealed relay, 1.2 VA TYPE 4X/7/9, Class I, Div. 1, Groups C & D 316/316L stainless steel or cast iron/aluminum 1 ⁄2 " NPT or condulet box(es) with 3⁄4" NPT Silver cad-oxide Enclosure Rating Enclosure Material Electrical Connection Contact Material DIMENSIONAL 2.8 8" R SPECIFICATIONS 2.8 .20" ¨ e f. 1/ 2 0.85" 8" f.
