OPTOCOUPLER Optocouplers - Zero or Non-Zero Crossing Phototriac Phototriac Broad Range of Phototriacs The phototriac optocoupler consists of an infrared LED optically coupled to a photosensitive TRIAC detector die. The detector chip is a complex device which functions in the same manner as a small TRIAC, generating the signals necessary to drive the gate of a larger TRIAC. For electrically noisy environments, the integrated zero-crossing circuit (ZCC) on the detector chip eliminates current surges and the resulting EMI noise and reliability issues.
