Exceeding maximum ratings for operating voltage will cause hazardous overload and will likely destroy the LED Module. The temperature of the LED module must be measured at the Tc-point according to EN60598-1 in a thermally constant status with a temperature sensor or a temperature sensitive label. DC24A-H - 23.06.2009 Page 2 of 4 Safety Information ¾ The LED module itself and all its components must not be mechanically stressed. ¾ Assembly must not damage or destroy conducting paths on the circuit board. ¾ The PCBs must be connected ideally to a thermally conducting surface. Otherwise the lifetime of the modules shortens. Please also notice our application note “Lifetime” ¾ The maximum temperature ranges are to be maintained (see page 2) In order to drive OSRAM LED-Modules safely, it is absolutely necessary to operate them with an electronically stabilised power supply protecting against short circuits, overload and overheating. To also ease the luminaire/installation approval, electronic control gear for LED or LED modules should carry the CE mark and be ENEC certified. In Europe the declarations of conformity must include the following standards: CE: EC 61374-2-13, EN 55015, IEC 61547 and IEC 61000-3-2 - ENEC: 61374-2-13 and IEC/EN 62384. Also check for the mark of an independent authorized certification institute. Please see the relevant brochure for more detailed information (see "Related and Further Information") OSRAM OPTOTRONIC® electronic control gear complies to all relevant standards and guarantees safe operation. ¾ Installation of LED modules (with power supplies) needs to be made with regard to all applicable electrical and safety standards. Only qualified personnel should be allowed to perform installations. ¾ Observe correct polarity! Depending on the product incorrect polarity will lead to emission of red or no light. The module can be destroyed! Correct polarity immediatelly! (see "reverse voltage", page 2) ¾ Parallel connection is highly recommended as safe electrical operation mode. Serial connection is not recommended. Unbalanced voltage drop can cause hazardous overload and damage the LED module. ¾ The chain must not me divided ¾ Dimming / colorcontrolling is only possible with PWM ¾ Pay attention to standard ESD precautions when installing the module. Avoid touching metallic parts. ¾ The DRAGONchain Colormix is driven ideally by OSRAM OPTOTRONIC power supplies and controllgear. Controllgear is available with 1..10V, DALI or DMX interface. ¾ 2 Modules DC24A-RGB can be driven by 1 OT EASY 60 ¾ 1 Powersupplies OPTOTRONIC OT75E can drive 3 modules. Please refer to the maximum currents of the controllgear when calculating the whole installation (OT DIM: 5A, OTi DIM: 5A, OT DMX, 3-Channel DIM or Sequencer: 2A per channel). Please read our OPTOTRONIC technical installation guide for more detailed information about calculation and wiring diagrams. ¾ The LED-chain can typically survive transient totalcurrent levels of up to 1,3 Amperes. As a general design precaution, if the maximum output current of the power supply is more than 1,3 Amperes, fast-blow fuses should be incorporated into the wiring plan. DC24A-H - 23.06.2009 Page 3 of 4 Assembly Information ¾ The mounting of the module is facilitated by means of M3 screws. ¾ One chain DC24A can already illuminate a light box with a surface of 1m² with about 100 cd/m². See the following information: Distance LED <-> Diffusor: min. 20 cm. Transmissivity: max. 25%. With two chains you can reach 380 cd/m². See therefore following information: Distance LED <-> Diffusor: min. 14 cm. Transmissivity: max. 45%. ¾ The black wire must be attached to the '+' 24V output of the controllgear. The others are to be connected according to their colors to the 'R-', 'B-' und 'G-' channels. ¾ If white light is to be shown for a longer period we recommend enlarging the distance between LED and diffusor. ¾ The interior of the lightbox should be completely white. ¾ The ribboncable between the PCBs should be fixed flat, so that they cannot produce any shadows or inhomogeneities. The ribbon cables between the boards may be bended but not damaged.They may be bended only once per bending point.
