This 12-bit to 24-bit multiplexed bus exchanger is designed for 2.3V to 3.6V VCC operation. The PI74ALVCH16271is intended for applications in which two separate data paths must be multiplexed onto, or demultiplexed from, a single data path. This device is particularly suitable as an interface between conventional DRAMs and high-speed microprocessors Data is stored in the internal A-to-B registers on the low-to-high transition of the clock (CLK) input, provided clock-enable (CLKENA) inputs are low. Proper control of these inputs allows two sequential 12-bit words to be presented as a 24-bit word on the B port. To maximize memory access throughput, transparent latches in the B-to-A path allow asynchronous operation. These latches transfer data when the latch-enable (LE) inputs are low. The select (SEL) line selects 1B or 2B data for the A outputs. Data flow is controlled by the active-low output enables (OEA, OEB). Logic Block Diagram To ensure the high-impedance state during power up or power down, OE should be tied to VCC through a pullup resistor, the minimum value of the resistor is determined by the current-sinking capability of the driver. Active bus-hold circuitry is provided to hold unused or floating data inputs at a valid logic level. 1 PS8360 02/02/99 PI74ALVCH16271 12-Bit To 24-Bit Multiplexed Bus Exchanger with 3-State Outputs 12345678901234567890123456789012123456789012345678901234567890121234567890123456789012345678901212345678901234567890123456789012123456789012 12345678901234567890123456789012123456789012345678901234567890121234567890123456789012345678901212345678901234567890123456789012123456789012 Product Pin Description Pin Name OE CLK SEL CLKEN A,1B,2B GND VCC Product Pin Configuration Description Output Enable Input (Active LOW) Clock Select (Active Low) Clock Enable (Active Low) 3-State Outputs Ground Power OEA 1 LE1B 2 2B3 3 4 GND Truth Tables(1) 2B2 2B1 5 VCC A1 7 8 A2 9 A3 10 GND A4 Output Enable INPUTS A5 OUTPUTS OEA OEB A 1B,2B H H Z Z H L Z Active L H Active Z L L Active Active A6 14 15 A8 16 A9 GND 17 A10 19 A11 20 21 VCC INPUTS 1B1 1B2 OUTPUTS CLKENA1 CLKENA2 CLK A 1B 2B H H X X 1B0(2) 2B0(2) L X ↑ L L X L X ↑ H H X X L ↑ L X L X L ↑ H AO H GND 1B3 LE2B SEL OEB 54 2B4 GND 53 52 51 50 49 48 47 11 56-PIN 46 A56 12 45 V56 13 44 A7 A12 A to B STORAGE (OEB = L) 6 56 55 18 CLKENA2 2B5 2B6 VCC 2B7 2B8 2B9 GND 2B10 2B11 43 42 41 2B12 40 39 1B10 38 37 1B9 36 1B7 VCC 1B12 1B11 GND 1B8 22 23 24 35 34 33 25 26 32 31 GND 27 28 30 29 CLKENA1 CLK 1B6 1B5 1B4 B to A STORAGE (OEA = L) INPUTS Outputs A LE SEL 1B 2B H X X X AO(2) H X X X AO(2) L H L X L L H H X H L L X L L L L X H H Notes: 1.
